Kara and Clark are both the last Kryptonians

I don't really understand why DC fans wants so desperately to choose which one of the cousins has suffered more from the loss of their word and so deserve the title of "the last".

Are we forgetting that both their stories are meant to represent the different aspects of immigration and the diffuliculties that immigrants face once arrived in a new country?

It's all about loss of identity, discrimination and isolation.

Clark was sent to earth, a whole different planet, when he was a baby. He was raised in a world that wasn't meant for someone like him. He was not only different from the people around him, but even dangerous because of his powers. Despite Ma and Pa Kent best efforts, Clark knew from a very young age that he didn't truly belong in the place he called home, but also, there wasn't anywhere else for him to go, because his planet had been destroyed. There was nothing left of his people, his culture, he had no memory of others like him to make him feel less alone, no traditions to claim as his and carry on. He is forever out of place, doesn't matter what identity he tries to claim, because he is not human enough to fit in on earth, but also not alien enough to feel like a true kryptonian either, so what is he really? Where does he belong?

Kara on the other hand has another type of struggle, because she remembers everything about krypton and has to mourn the identity she had as a kryptonian. She has the memories of her traditions and language, but not a place where to practice them nor someone to share them with. The only other person who is the same race as her was raised elsewhere and has no memory of the home they lost. She alone feels responsable of carrying the legacy and traditions of a death civilisation. It's because she knows where she belongs, where she is supposed to be, that she will not fit anywhere else. She is a vestige, a ghost forever hunting the empty spot in the universe where her home where supposed to be.

Krypton is hunting both their narratives, because they are both the last ones. They both carry within themself the tragedy of what could it have been if things went differently, who they might have been, the relationship they might have had if they had actually grown up together as it was intended.

Their pain is not a competition and whoever tries to make it so hasn't understood their story nor what it stands for.
