This year, the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations, in collaboration with the United Nations Secretariat, is organizing the 9th International Day of Yoga at the North Lawn Area of the UNHQ, under the theme "Yoga for Vasudhaiv Kutumbakam" [Yoga for 'The World is One Family']. Delegates from the United Nations Member States, Officials and staff of the United Nations secretariat as well as eminent persons from all walks of life in New York, will be participating in the event.Â

Body- and self-awareness are particularly beneficial, she adds, “because they can help with early detection of physical problems and allow for early preventive action.”

United Nations General Assembly resolution 69/131.
The United Nations General Assembly, on December 11, 2014, adopted a unanimous resolution declaring June 21 as the International Day of Yoga. The draft received tremendous support from the 177 member states and was adopted as a special day.
Since then, millions of people have participated in the celebrations of yoga every year worldwide.
Resolution proclaimed that June 21 will be marked as International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131.
