1. Sunshine
Sardinia enjoys an average of 135 days of sunshine every year.

A growing number of scholars believe that Sardinia is actually the site of the Lost City of Atlantis.

Sardinia's coastline (1,850km) makes up over a quarter of the entire Italian coast.

5. The highest average life expectancy
Average life expectancy is 81 years (85 for women and 78 for men). Sardinia shares with the Japanese island of Okinawa the highest rate of centenarians in the world (22 centenarians/ 100,000 inhabitants). It's no coincidence that the traditional Sardinian greeting is "A kent'annos" (may you live to 100).
One of the causes is the local dark red wine. Cannonau is particularly high in heart-protecting procyanidins.
6. Beer drinkers
The consumption of beer per capita (60 litres) is double compared to mainland Italy.
7. James Bond
The Costa Smeralda was used as the location for James Bond driving his Lotus Esprit out of the sea in 'The Spy Who Loved Me' in 1977.
8. Inhabitans? Donkeys!
Asinara off the coast of Sardinia is not inhabited by humans but is home to a colony of 250 miniature albino donkeys.
9. Casu Marzu
A culinary speciality unique to Sardinia is "casu marzu" cheese which contains live maggots... and yes, you guessed it, it's considered a potent aphrodisiac by the locals.

1. Cagliari
Cagliari is an Italian municipality and the capital of the island of Sardinia, an Autonomous Region of Italy. Cagliari's Sardinian name Casteddu literally means castle. 4. Ogliastra
The Province of Ogliastra is located in east-central Sardinia, facing eastward on the Tyrrhenian Sea, and bordering in the northwest with the Province of Nuoro, and in the southwest with the Province of Cagliari. Ogliastra was established as a province following a 2001 regional law that provided for a new division of the Sardinian territory, bringing the number of provinces from four to eight.

5. Piscinas
The beach of Piscinas, like many of those along the Costa Verde and the western coast of Sardinia, where the sea is rarely calm, is one of the favourite spots for surfers that, especially in winter, practise their sport thanks to the habitual presence of long, high waves.
This beach is also well known for the presence of a vast area, where it is possible to practice naturism.

6. Miniera di montevecchio
Montevecchio is a compendium mining located in the Province of Medio Campidano, in the municipalities of Guspini and Arbus. The town, also known as Gennas Serapis, is a small village in the municipality of Guspini. Montevecchio has several archaeological monuments of industry. It is part of the Historical and Environmental Geo-mining Park of Sardinia, part of the network GEO-PARKS Site.
7. La valle della luna
The Valley of the Moon is a small valley long circa 500 m, located in the western promontory of Capo Testa, in the municipality of Santa Teresa Gallura (OT), in Sardinia. The valley is known to be especially popular with continuity from a hippie commune. Not to be confused the Valley of the Moon is aslso known as the Great flat stones, in the territory of Aggius.
8. Castelsardo
Castelsardo is a town and comune in Sardinia, Italy, located in the northwest of the island within the Province of Sassari, at the east end of the Gulf of Asinara.
9. Alghero
Located on the north west coast of Sardinia, holidays to Alghero have become increasingly popular in recent years, yet the city still retains its distinctive Catalan character. This derives from the influence of Pedro IV of Aragon who seized control of the town in the mid-fourteenth century and embarked on an intense period of colonization from Spain.

10. Cala Luna
The beach of Cala Luna, positioned within the wide Golfo di Orosei, is made up of coarse, light-coloured sand mixed with stones. Its waters are transparent and of a changing blue due to the plays of light created by the sun reflected on the seabed: a further spray of colour is offered by the green of the vegetation that hems the beach.

11. Tharros
Tharros is an ancient Phoenician-Roman Port on the finger of land jutting out to sea forming a natural breakwater for the Bay of Oristano. The setting couldn't be more spectacular. Tharros is surrounded by white sand beaches; one called Is Arutas is said to be the cleanest in Italy.

12. Orgosolo
Orgosono is a municipality located in the Province of Nuoro, in Sardinia, it is about 110 km north of Cagliari and about 13 km south of Nuoro. The municipality is famous for its murales. These political paintings can be found on walls all over Orgosolo. Since about 1969, the murales reflect different aspects of Sardinia's political struggles but also deal with international issues.

Italian coffee guide
As well as pasta or pizza, coffee is also a big part of an Italian culture. Once you are in Italy, you can order coffee anytime. As far as Italians have some traditions and rituals associated with drinking coffee, we have prepared for you a simple and brief guide.
What you should avoid:
1. Expresso is not a coffee
Have you ever tried to ask for ,,expresso"?
Try to avoid the word expresso, which means fast train. Better ask for un Caffé or eSpresso.
2. Order Latte- end up with milk
Once you're in Italy forget about ordering just ,,Latte", because you can end up with glass of milk. Latte in italian means milk, so if you would like to drink Latte in meaning of coffee, you better ask for ,,Caffé Latte".
3. Cappuccino
Do you dream about cappuccino after your meal? If you do not want to look as a typical foreigner- forget about it!
Italians believe that drinking milk after a meal screws up digestion. They drink cappuccino during the morning, NEVER after meal, rarely during afternoon.
4. Save your money
If you want to avoid spending more money on the same cup of coffee, order your coffee at the bar. Italians bar offers 2 prices, cheaper one, when you drink your coffee at the bar and more expensive one, when you sit. Most Italians just drink their coffee at the bar.

Types of coffee:
1. Caffé (espresso)
= A small cup of very strong coffee
2. Caffé Hug
= Decaffeinated coffee
3. Caffé Americano
= weeker than espresso, served in large cup

= espresso with a shot of grappa, cognac or other spirits
5. Caffé doppio
= double espresso
6. Caffé freddo
= ice coffee
7. Caffé latte
= coffee mixed with hot milk, usually served in glass for breakfast
8. Latte macchiato
= small version of a cappucino with drop of steamed milk
9. Caffé marocchino
= espresso with a dash of hot milk and cacao powder
10. Caffé stretto
= espresso with less water
11. Cappuccino
= espresso infused with steamed milk
