I first ran into Michael on my way to Chinatown. He wasn’t rude or closed off in any way - instead, he began talking to me about the misfortunes that led him to living on the streets of SF.

In the bay area, homelessness continues to rise as more tech companies are buying more land, raising the cost of housing, services, goods, etc.

Be aware of your stigmatized view of the homelessness and help reach out to those who may not have been given the same opportunities as you have.

This is a giving key. I was given it 3 years ago by a friend, as I was going through some hard times. I was told that the purpose was to someday give it to someone who needs hope more than me. 

I’ve kept it ever since, even as I have travelled across the country for college. It reminds me of everything I’ve gone through. A little piece of home.
