I'm perisex so my sincerest apologies if this comes off rude or is worded wrong. Also apologies if this is a commonly asked question!

How do intersex people feel about perisex trans people/ perisex trans allies using the argument "well sex isn't binary, so how can gender be binary?" If there's any complicated feelings I'd appreciate an explanation but don't feel any need to be over personal if it makes you uncomfortable. I've seen this argument being used in the past and want to know if it's offensive as to not parrot harmful arguments.

Hello, we hate it. Sex & gender are not comprarable at all. Unless the person is trying to say sex is also binary, and you're educated on the topic, please refrain! Thank you!

It usually is used by ignorant perisex people in an ignorant way & it completely minimizes us as a community, spreads false information, & usually has some bigotry against intersex people riddled within it.

Hello! I just recently obtained my medical records now that I am an adult. I looked through some of the documents and eventually saw something strange. There are some documents that show doctors were doing physical examinations on me as a baby, there is a section titled ‘genitalia’. For some of the ‘genitalia’ sections it states that I have “immature external genitalia”, what could this mean? Is this considered intersex?

so im aware of intersex animals existing, but im wondering if gynandromorphism could be considered intersex?

it occurs in species with less complex sexual development than mammals, and its caused by genetic chimerism in the sex chromosomes, which causes an organism to display both male and female characteristics. im aware this is not how intersexuality works with humans, but im more specifically asking because i have an anthropomorphic bug character with gynandromorphism and am curious.

im only asking because, i am perisex and im not too sure how to classify it myself. i lean more twoards the side of no, but im just curious what others with more knowledge think. [i apologize if anything ive said here could be intersexist! i try my best to educate myself but some things could've fallen through the cracks]

If there is a deviation from the sex characteristics a species should typically have, it is intersex.

hey!! okay so uhh. i’m not intersex, i’ll start with that. i’m not sure if this is the right blog to ask but i’ll just start. 

i’m writing a little comic series and i have these ocs. one of them is from an original species (made up by me!). they come from outer space, and are kinda like if humans were more like plants. like, they perform photosynthesis and act like if plants were sentient and humanoid (they’re also green!). but i sorta ran into something with my species inventing: i was only going to make one sex for these people because they’re plants, so their reproduction is more like plants (having only one sex, although i know some plants act differently, most plants just have one). i’m not sure how to handle the genitals for this species because they are like humans in their bodies, but reproduction wise they act differently. i was debating if they would actually flower like plants, or if their reproduction organs would be more like humans, just having the ability to produce both sperm and egg cells. i’m asking an intersex blog because i like this idea of my species only having one sex, but i don’t want to hurt any intersex people’s feelings or misrepresent anyone, even though i’m not exactly trying to represent intersex people, i know it could be interpreted that way. i was hoping i could get some advice on how to make sure i’m not falling into some offensive territory?

sorry if this is a weird ask also (and i know it’s a long one). i really just don’t want to add to any media already shining a bad light on the intersex experience

So this is actually entirely fine! There's a word for the plant specific form of this I can't quite spell, but this is actually a real thing in biology (both plant and animal)! Having 2 sets of reproductive systems be the norm for a species is entirely possible, just don't call it a hermaphrodite (slur) or futa (slur.) or intersex (which is incorrect)

also intersexuality in the context of a cosexual species would be them only having the one, which would be that species 'variation from the norm of sex characteristics'. Hope this makes sense! You're entirely able to do this yea.

So I'm getting to the age where I actually have to see a gynecologist. And I KNOW they're going to recommend surgery for whatever it is I have (maybe a micropeforate hymen? if it is then were talking a hole only like 1-2mm diameter. All I know is I've never been able to get anything in there besides the first joint of my pinky finger (with pretty bad discomfort.)) Point is, I don't WANT surgery. I like my body the way it is. It helps a ton with my gender dysphoria. It just feels so body-horror esque to think about anything going in there, or even being able to.

But because I have a "functional" uterus and ovaries, you need to get checks done. I've done so much research and there is no way to check for ovarian cancer without putting something in the vagina. A pap smear is genuinely my worst nightmare. As in, imagine someone trying to stick something like that into your urethra. But I also want this to be figured out. Will my parents force me into surgery if I go? Will doctors? Eventually I just want the whole internal reproductive system removed but they won't do that for a minor who just doesn't want surgery on their atypical "vagina."

Every time I do research it's like "my boyfriend can only put his middle finger in :( and tampons hurt :( I want surgery." Or "If we do this surgery your baby will have a normal sex life!" I'm just so genuinely terrified. And who knows what anesthesia could do as I'm developing bipolar disorder? I just. I don't know.

Does intersex specifically mean any sex chatacteristics that don't align with your sex, or any out of the norm sex characteristics in general? Like is high testosterone with XY chromosomes and fully formed penis and testes intersex? High estrogen with XX and fully formed vagina uterus and ovaries?

I'm unaware of the majority opinion on this, but I know people will have differing opinions regardless.

i have the second, and i'd argue it is. My genitals are actually atypical due to the estrogen stimulating tissue growth, which is definitely intersex.

Just wanna add on here, I'm pretty sure higher of your "normal" hormones was listed somewhere in interact's website but I don't really remember..

anyways, Personal Belief Wise? I don't see the need to create a distinction between the two things listed in Anon's ask. I see no universe where that is adventageous for us as a community. I just also know I'm only one person and everyone defines intersex as wee bit differently. It sucks being on the "borderline". Anyways anon, we are only internet people. Do what you will in your good faith assesment of if you fit the bill or not.

I hope it's okay for me to copy and paste an ask I sent to another blog. I'm not sure how long it's going to take to get back to me, or if it will at all. I think its inbox may be overflowing, or Tumblr has been just eating my asks.

I'm not diagnosed with any "condition" aside from being told my androgens were too high at 14 and being shoved on estrogen based birth control. A lot of my childhood and symptoms could either line up with a variation of CAH (probably NCAH) or PCOS. I mark all of the symptoms based on my medical papers and what l've personally observed. Extremely early puberty, stunted growth, excess androgens, hairy body. irregular menstruation, arrythmia, pre-diabetes, difficulties losing weight, etc. When going to my doctor and getting diagnosed, they literally NEVER put down the diagnosis on my papers, just my symptoms, and l'm left guessing. I'm 100% certain I have something, maybe more likely PCOS, but I can't rule out the other or the possibility of having both because it is confirmed I also have endometriosis, and endoPCOS is a thing. Am I allowed to just say I'm intersex despite not having an actual condition diagnosed? Is it enough knowing that I have hyperandrogenism to just say I'm intersex?

OF COURSE! Like I said in a previous ask, many intersex people are lied to and have our medical histories covered up. Some of us may never know the truth. This does not bar anyone from the community. You don't owe anyone even that much of an explanation of why you're intersex! You are you.

do i need a diagnosis to use the word 'intersex'? for context - i've always 'identified' as intersex since i was AIAB then cAFAB due to surgery but i never received an actual variation diagnosis since it was hidden from my parents. testing is expensive and since then, no doctor has been able to successfully pin it down.

i just feel odd using the word 'intersex' for myself without a specific diagnosis.

Nope! Unfortunately a lot of intersex people will just never get the truths about our own medical history or get real answers. To expect a perfect record of one's life would be absurd, especially since it's so common for us to be lied to our whole lives.
