I remember the uproar when this movie premiered. As dictated (or rather, monetized) by the logic of content creation and social media, opinions were polarized: masterpiece or utter garbage. The reality, at least mine, can’t be summed up in a tweet. Shall I tell you?

Instead of treating fascism as an isolated event or identifying it with European parties, regimes, and ideologies, we must see it as a dynamic that precedes the moment it is named, a phenomenon closely linked to the prerequisites of capitalist domination that, although changing and sometimes contradictory, has a consistency at its core. Despite their profound differences, the terrorism of the Ku Klux Klan, the squadrism against trade unionism in Italy, or the murderous codification of neoliberalism in Chile can all be understood within that core.

En lugar de tratar el fascismo como un hecho aislado o identificarlo con partidos, regímenes e ideologías europeas, tenemos que verlo como una dinámica que precede al momento en que se le nombra, un fenómeno estrechamente ligado a los prerrequisitos de la dominación capitalista que, aunque cambiante y a veces contradictorio, tiene una consistencia en su núcleo. A pesar de sus profundas diferencias, el terrorismo del Ku Klux Klan, el squadrismo contra el sindicalismo en Italia o la codificación asesina del neoliberalismo en Chile pueden entenderse en ese nucleo.
