Diver explores the Taj Mahal cenote

Timed right, diving a cenote can be a truly magical experience, hugely rewarding and unlike most other scuba adventures. Diving for five weeks in Mexico this summer, I returned to the Taj Mahal cenote many times but on each occasion the clouds conspired to create lack lustre moments that were underwhelming in my camera’s preview. The final day was different, navigating my way through the tunnels to Bill’s Hole provided a real treat, the intimately lit cavern set against a backdrop of energetically dancing light beams layered with vivid hues of colour forged as the sun shone brightly on the mangroves above was breathtaking and a worthy final dive. Absolutely, one of my favourite images from the trip and I cannot wait to return.

Frederick Sound, Alaska

Frederick Sound or Prince Frederick Sound is the 80 mile passage of water in the heart of Alaska's Inside Passage that separates Kupreanof Island in the south and Admiralty Island in the north.

Renowned for whale activity during the summer, we were treated to a wonderful 4 hour show as a group of humpback whales, fin slapped, fluked and breached against the beautiful magneta evening.

Life under the jetty

It's a mammoth journey from the UK to Ambon Island, three planes and 26 hours of traveling but it's absolutley worthwhile.

Diverse and unusual critter life are rivalled only by the number of interesting dive sites; muck-diving Ambon was an experience unlike any I'd previous enjoyed. That said macro wasn't the only diving available and each afternoon I'd be found under the 'Jetty Air Manis' a quiet dive site within swimming distance from the resort of Maluku Divers.

Introducing the all new 'Black' Subal CD1DX

For more than a year after the first announcement I waited patiently for this housing to move into production. I owned a Canon 1DX digital body and it was awesome, constantly producing stunning topside images often in very challenging conditions and now I wanted it in the ocean and only a Subal housing would do.

The first production housing arrived with me in May 2014. I had 9 weeks of travel in front of me and many underwater adventures to share. American crocodiles, whale sharks, cenotes, underwater models, beautiful reefs and captivating wrecks were just a few of the subjects shoehorned into this busy itinerary.
