Honestly, I am SICK and tired of hashtags everytime someone is wrongfully shot and killed by police. I am tired of the same old cycle over and over: black person wrongfully killed by police officer -> black people storm social media with hashtags and commentary "making their voices heard" -> a bunch of protests -> a different news story or trend appears and takes the attention of everyone; distracting us -> we all go back to our normal lives -> another black person wrongfully killed by police -> repeat. But what are we as a people actually going to do to make a lasting change to the system that we know is corrupt? What is our plan? Does the NAACP or anyone have a plan or agenda to fix this? The answer seems to be "no." If the answer is no then truth be told we actually are just complaining. If we can come up with an actual agenda or realistic plan we may actually start seeing justice. SOMETHING is missing from our generation that wasn't missing from the generation that led the civil rights movement and I think what I'm getting at might be it. I'm not here to be that guy who is just saying other people's way of fixing this is terrible but don't have a better solution myself; I'm saying what most of us are doing isn't going to work and I can't come up with a plan that will myself, so come help me make one; we all should come together and make one. #altonsterling #blacklivesmatter #alllivesmatter #ripaltonsterling #repost via @restoredprodigal
