As someone who works in a museum I think more people should know about museums for all— it’s a program that helps you get free/low cost admissions to museums and other similar places like zoos, planetariums, historic houses, etc. To qualify, all you need is a SNAP/EBT card (and some places, like the museum I work at, accept wic and Medicaid too). You just have to present that card and your ID when you’re purchasing tickets at the front desk, and the maximum that a participating museum can charge you is $3/person. Which is crazy because some places will charge you like $35 for just one person to get in so you can forget about going with friends or family. But yeah if you’re in the US you should check out their list of participating organizations and plan a fun, educational trip for cheap 💖

okay so full disclosure I recently got some money from my granddad who passed away last year and while obviously some of that is gonna go to needs of mine like my education, I do feel kinda gross about inheriting money that was earned by a white guy who worked in the corporate structure of an energy company in the jim crow south. so I want to pay part of it back out as reparations and basically i’m here to ask if anyone knows any good, reputable places where the money would go to good use

I’m thinking it would be ideal for me to do one big payment first and then set up a monthly donation somewhere. for the monthly donation, I know there’s a mutual aid network in my state where I can help pay for a family’s groceries, so I think I want to do that. but if anyone knows of any other funds I can give a larger, one-time donation to (or even other options for the smaller monthly donation) I’d love to hear them :)
