Tired But Trying

We have to submit a draft this Thursday that is supposed to be the almost completely finished version of a really big project for comparative vertebrate anatomy.

My taxon of focus is Molidae, which I have been really enjoying researching about. So much so that I lost track of time and missed 30 minutes of my evening lecture because I was so focused in on my reading (ᵕ—ᴗ—) . . .

unfortunately had to take a few days off because life decided to happen

but we’re back with a lot to catch up on and a late night study session coming up. went to a bakery earlier for a matcha danish (requirement for long study hours)

5 days left until I head back to uni and 7 days until the exam, kind of bricking it with the amount i’ve got left so it’s time to lock in!!

Christmas Tree Aurora

A star filled night sky is shown with aurora visible in blue, purple and green. The aurora could be perceived to be a spruce tree, or even a Christmas tree.

It was December and the sky lit up like a Christmas tree. Shimmering, the vivid green, blue, and purple auroral colors that formed the tree-like apparition were caused by high atmospheric oxygen and nitrogen reacting to a burst of incoming electrons. Collisions caused the orbital electrons of atoms and molecules to jump into excited energy states and emit visible light when returning to their normal state. The featured image was captured in Djúpivogur, Iceland during the last month of 2023. Our Sun is currently in its most energetic phase of its 11-year cycle, with its high number of active regions and sunspots likely to last into next year. Of course, the Sun has been near solar maximum during this entire year, with its outbursts sometimes resulting in spectacular Earthly auroras.

Rain and gloom. I've been in a bit of a sour mood since yesterday for no good reason. Some of the fields I pass by during my commute are still bare but some of them are already green or even yellow with rapeseed flowers. My specialization project is almost finished, my thesis measurements are in progress. There's 1.5 months left of the first year of my Master's and predictably, I can't believe it. Soon it'll all be over, how is that even possible?
