Oleander took a step back and watched as his Nanna wiped her eyes.
“You know what he looks like?” He gasped, Astral nodded once again. He had a link to his dad at last.
“I do my darling… You look a lot like him in my opinion. Your grandfather doesn’t seem to agree however. He sees your mother in you.” Oleander nodded in response, unsure as to what he should say. He gazed at her, she looked more and more frail each day, yet she seemed to take life by the horns. His Gramps always told him about how determined and caring she was. It was a realisation as to why his mother would have run, been ashamed to admit what had happened.
“Anyway” She continued sending him back to reality. “ You know that I can’t help you find find him until you are 18.” She leaned forward kissing him on the forehead, “You are getting so big now, it isn’t long now.”
Throwing some shapes.
He lifted himself off the bed, hoping to lift his spirits as well. He walked downstairs towards the kitchen, the house was silent apart from a bustling of pots and pans every so often. There in the kitchen was his Nanna, he walked towards her careful not to frighten her. She was getting older and older as well as Gramps, he worried about how long they would have left together.
He’s so so cute, always looks confused though.
Oleander stared at the ceiling as he laid in his bed as he thought about the night before. The realisation that he finally knew what had happened, he thought about his father once again. What did he look like? How was he going to find him… Appleloosa Pie was a big place, that was even if he was still here. He could be in Starburst Shores for all he knew.
“Right, well it was nice to meet you. I’ve got to go.” He stood and was walking away as she shouted, Oleander turned to ask what she had said, she stood inches away from him and grabbed his hands.
“look.” Was all she said, her hands glowed as she held his. Oleander snatched his hands away, he quickly sped away from her, making his way out of the park.
“He’s closer than you think!” She squeaked as Oleander moved further and further into the distance. Oleander was going home, whether this was a dream or not, he couldn’t deal with the weirdness right now.
“yoooooooooo gunna looooooose!”
“Mum stop, I’m concentrating.”
“Hello Oleander Guava Vivid!” The girl chirped happily, eyes still twinkling.
“Do I know you? I don’t think I know you?”
“I know everyone.” She stated simply, twirling herself on the swing. Oleander watched her confused. Had he fallen asleep? Surely his mind was playing tricks on him.
“I see things, know everything… To a certain extent of course. All depends on paths taken.” This girl was very unusual, now was the time to head home.
For some reason I don’t think Arthur is doing too well… However, Aubrey’s poker face refuses to show any weakness.
So the family decided to go on holiday! Card time.
He looked over to the swing besides his. There sat a girl, presumably around the same age as him. Although he can’t remember having met her before… Her long green hair, flowed in the breeze, her eyes were unusual however, to Oleander they looked like lollipops, multiple colours and they seemed to twinkle in the setting sun.
He couldn’t help but think that he had made her up. Was she a figment of his imagination?
“Hard days work… I deserve this cake. Cake…. Hmmmm cake.”
“I regret my decision to attempt the monkey bars.”
He thought about everything, the story Candlelight had told him. The fact that he’d never meet his mum, why his dad couldn’t be around.
“Hello!” A voice chirped from besides him. Oleander jumped, he thought he was alone? Had he had fallen asleep?
Oleander wandered through Appleloosa Pie, unsure of his next route. What would he do next? Oleander paused and looked towards up, the sky turning all sorts of colours as the sun began to set. Part of him was happy that Candlelight had revealed the truth. The other part was angry with his family for letting his dad leave that day. Why couldn't he have stayed? Oleander began his walk again, he knew he couldn't call Mango, he'd try to come and meet him and it was getting close to curfew.
Oleander walked and walked till he made it to the park in the centre of town. It was a long walk and part of Oleander regretted not bringing his bike. The park was eerily empty, only him. He placed himself on the swings and gently rocked back and forward.
