POP punk
HEY! Gold & Shadow are back on Into It.
Been quiet around here lately, but summer is on it’s way and that means more fun for everyone.
This week on Into It, Nanaimo’s own @goldandshadow will be on-air-- just a day before the release of their Birdhaus EP and a few days before their upcoming tour. Be sure to tune in from 7-8pm PST on 101.7FM CHLY to catch them discussing what’s new with them and playing some live acoustic tunes!
Happening today-- The Stacks, live on Into It!
At 7pm PST, The Stacks will be live on Into It on 101.7FM CHLY to play their entire album, “Open Till Midnite”. Tune in for live commentary of each track, and for a chance to win a t-shirt and CD from the band.
“Open Till Midnite” — coming soon
A couple more wild announcements from The Stacks: first, The Stacks are taking part in CBC’s 2016 Searchlight contest where they’ll be competing to win a prize package worth $50,000. Voting is open till midnite on April 20th (See what I did there?), and you can vote once per day! Click hereto vote for the very deserving, The Stacks. Second, the band’s debut EP, “Open Till Midnite”, will be out April 30th! Be sure to tune in for The Stacks live on Into It May 5th for an exclusive listen to the entire album. “Listening party” is what the cool kids are calling it nowadays, I think. With how great the band’s new single sounds, I don’t think you want to miss it!

Upcoming shows in Nanaimo this long, long weekend.
Hey Nanaimo, it’s time to celebrate an extra day off work and/or school with a local show! Friday, March 25th — The Stacks, Loomer and Fever Feel (Calgary) will be rocking The Vault at 8:30pm for just $10. Saturday, March 26th — The Ashley Hundred (Calgary), Lovers Touch (Salt Spring Island) and Sean Patton (Nanaimo) at Tiger Mountain in Lantzville for $10! 8pm. That’s it for this weekend, sugar babies. Check back next week for more local gigs!
MUSIC VIDEO PREMIERE: “Things I Do” by The Stacks
Today is the day, babies. The music video for “Things I Do” by Nanaimo’s very own, The Stacks is out now. If you’re in Nanaimo, don’t forget to check out The Stacks tomorrow night at The Vault! Well, here it is. Enjoy!
Nanaimo gigs to check out this weekend
Hey Nanaimo, forget St. Patty’s Day and hit up a local show this weekend instead. Unlike the Irish whiskey you washed down with keg of green beer, you won’t regret it. Friday, March 18th — See San Felix (Victoria) and The Odd Neighbourhood (Nanaimo) team up to take The Vault surfing on their alt-pop waves. Show is at 9pm, and is only $5!
A live recording of Crumbledrunk— the new single from San Felix.
Saturday, March 19th — Check out Maverick Cinema, Young Babylon, Dane (from Gold&Shadow) and Jordan (from The Stacks) at The Buzz Coffeehouse for $10. Doors are at 7:30pm.
There are a ton of great shows coming up in town this spring, so keep your eyes peeled for next week’s show listing here on the blog.
HEY! The Stacks are back.
Oh, yes. They’re back. Nanaimo’s rock n’ roll babies are back on Into It with big news. Allow me to fill you in. On March 24th, The Stacks will be releasing their very first music video for their song “Things I Do” and you can view it right here on the Into It blog at 4pm PST. The very next day, the boys will be hitting The Vault in Nanaimo to help you sing and dance your winter blues away. More info on that show here. On top of that, The Stacks will be releasing their debut album “Open Till Midnite” SOON! Stay tuned for more details on that. Wait, don’t leave yet. There’s more… On May 5th, The Stacks will be live on Into It to chat, chill, and (most importantly) give us a listen to their complete album. You heard me right, and soon you’ll be hearing them right. Don’t miss it, kiddos! Until then, have a look at the teaser video for “Things I Do” (below) and be sure to check out The Stacks on Facebook and their new site.

New material from We Are The City
Into It favourites, We Are The City, have been hard at dropping new material left, right, and centre. They’ve also hit the road again in the US to tour with Copeland and Eisley shortly after finishing an intense stretch of 24/7 writing and recording their brand new album. (Their entire time in studio, by the way, was viewed all over the world via a livestream.) And, yet, there’s still more to come from the band... in February and March, We Are The City will be playing on Canadian soil once again! Dates are to be announced, so keep an eye out for them.
Listen to their new album, Above Club, here until November 12th. It will be available to purchase worldwide from iTunes on November 13th.
If you’d like to watch their new music video for “Kiss Me, Honey”, click here! And lastly, check out wearethecity.ca for more on what these folks are up to (they’re always up to something, I think).
