“I know, ‘Mon. No need to get all flustered and sputtery.” Fauna smiled, giving him a gentle nudge as he led them toward the main entrance. Although she knew he went through quite a bit of trouble to plan and actually execute this date, she had to admit she was taken aback by the fact he actually got a car for the evening. “Wow, really?” She grinned, peering out the front window to catch a glimpse of the mystery vehicle — but to no avail, as she was too short.
“Hey, as long as there isn’t a body in the trunk, I’m not askin’ any questions.” The girl winked, looping her arm through his as they left the building — and the snotty receptionist — behind. “Thank you,” Fauna said, using her best proper voice, before climbing into the car. “We absolutely, positively shall.”
He grinned, laughing at her attempt at the proper voice, before walking about to the driver’s side, he slid in, his knees immediately hitting the steering wheel, “Fuck...” he found the switch to scoot the seat back, giving him more room, he had gotten the car from someone who owed him, and had probably left the seat like that on purpose, “Too damned tall,” he said, cranking the car up and turning it out of the gates, “There now that all that’s settled,” Amon said, stealing a glance over at Fauna, chewing on his lip ring as he did, “You do look really nice though,” he repeated, his voice sounded different to him, a tone he had never had before was there, meaning? He didn’t know but knew she would know.
He turned into the little downtown area of the city, looking for the place Phil had told him about, he spotted the neon lights that blinked in the colors of the Italian flag, patio seating with christmas lights outside despite the cool air, he guessed that was just their aesthetic. He managed to stuff the car into a parking spot a bit down from the place, stopping the engine, “Well, let’s see how well Phil knows his Italian,”
