Asking Jack and Robby if you can read to them on the couch on a day where you're all off together 🥹 (totally not self indulgent btw)
"I know this is a bit of a strange request but, do you think...maybe...I could read to you two?" The question leaves your mouth sheepishly, eyes cast to the floor. No way would they indulge this. They're doctors. They read advanced medical journals on the daily, why would they need you to read to them. "I dunno just thought it'd be a cute idea," you follow up with a shrug of your shoulders.
Robby and Jack look up from their phones, both pairs of readers having slid down each of their noses making them look impossibly handsome, to find you standing right in front of them at their position on the couch.
"Sweetheart, that sounds like a great idea," Robby says with a soft smile.
"Yeah honey, we'd love that," Jack agrees easily. Your head shoots up as soon as the words leave their mouths. The brightest smile on your face, the one that's made from genuine happiness in the purest form.
"Really!?" You're so happy you can't help the little bounce that your bare feet create on the hardwood floor of the living room. This causes both of your boyfriends to chuckle.
"You'd think we'd say no?" Jack asks, a teasing lilt to his voice and a smirk forming on his lips to match. "We love you, you know I love to read, and Robby basically devours books any chance he gets."
"Guilty," Robby concedes and you quietly laugh because Jack was right on all three counts.
"Ok lemme go grab my book and we can all cuddle up!" You spin on your heals and head to the kitchen to grab your copy of Emily Wilson's translation of The Odyssey you'd gotten for your college course.
You bound back to the living room and practically launch yourself into the space Jack and Robby have made for you between them.
"Ooh The Odyssey, good pick," Robby says, spying the cover.
"More than baby," Jack says, leaning down to press a kiss to your hairline as you crack open your book.
"Tell me about a complicated man.
Muse, tell me how he wandered and was lost when he had wrecked the holy town of Troy..."
