The macbooks screen was open to one of her more frequented websites. With Net-A-Porter, Instagram, Sephora, and the websites for her own businesses that she sold through was something most would have found peculiar. A website about the supernatural, and extra terrestrial which were vastly different things but, since finding the blog, Bella believed were both exceptionally real.
Scrolling down through the descriptor of her favourite non-make-up bloggers appearance in a new town Bella frowned as she leaned forward and saw what looked like a lake near the grove. With crossed legs she drew the thin piece of technology to her lap, observing the poorly taken image of a creature in it’s waters. Impossible to make out Bella wouldn’t have been shocked if it was merfolk since a few did reside in lakes, but she also wouldn’t have been surprised if it was another supernatural creature. Whatever the case she was less observing it as he was the location, studying the shape of the lake and the abundance of hemlock around it.
Moving from his own blog to the forum she knew the blogger frequented she found his post, logging into her own account and clicking on his profile and ‘direct message.’ The vampire had never had the gaul to message before, commenting on a few things with encouragement or questions, but still she avoided direction communication. This was mostly because if she said the wrong thing it meant exposing herself to the outside world, a world that she was technically dead to, yet as she stared at the picture the young woman felt an overpowering need to confirm that this was in fact her home.
False nails pressing to her keyboard she began to type rapidly, fingers moving at a speed most would not have been able to achieve.
TheCountessBellamy: Hey, LRUltra, or Luis, I follow your blog and sometimes lurk around here for your posts.
TheCountessBellamy: A while back I probably bothered you with way too many vampire questions in blog posts about them.
TheCountessBellamy: That coffin information was super helpful.
Bellamy stopped for a moment, recalling how stupid she had felt when she discovered, after three months of sleeping in a coffin, that her sire had merely allowed her to believe it necessary when it was not by any means. Sure, she needed to avoid sunlight but that could as easily be achieved by closing windows.
TheCountessBellamy: This might be forward but I think I know where you are.
TheCountessBellamy: Maybe not forward but creepy. I think it’s my hometown though.
TheCountessBellamy: I’m sure you don’t want to specifically say where you are if that isn’t true so perhaps a landmark might help you know whether or not to agree?
TheCountessBellamy: On the main road there is a restaurant and bar, it’s called Erzebet’s, entirely black building with a neon cursive sign.
Her own business but no need to mention that.
Crawling further back into her bed she leant against the headboard, keeping her laptop on her thighs, her puppy crawling up beside her and finding a place by her side. She was not going to close the thing until she got a reply, instead turning on the television in her room and putting on The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
After he’d made the post, Luis had spent the rest of the day driving around town to start to get a feel for it. There was definitely a vibe to it all, the kind of place that seems really tight knit and don’t get a lot of newbies. The kind of place that liked to keep its secrets close to its chest. The kind of place where oddities could thrive.
But also, it was just a good idea to have a lay of the land that he’d be calling home, at least for a few weeks. He always gave each town he visited a fair amount of time to reveal their mysteries to him, but if it seemed like a dead end, then he’d just move onto the next lead. In the meantime, he made note of all the strange roads that seemed to lead nowhere, where the edges of the town ended and what they turned into, and of course any hole in the wall joints that caught his eye.
When all was said and done, he pulled up into the parking lot of the Stonefruit Inn, where he’d be lodging during his stay here. Before checking in however, he decided to make his usual rounds on the internet, checking his social media and his blog. He’d invested in a personal hotspot ages ago, especially with the absolutely ridiculous prices some of these places charged for Wi-Fi. It should be a constitutional right, in his humble opinion!
His chest tightened when he saw seven new messages waiting for him. Uh oh. Who had he pissed off this time. He braced himself for a round of insults or suicide bait, but was surprised to discover they weren’t those kind of messages at all. He blinked and read over the messages a few times.
The handle...the coffin info...oh! He remembered now. It had been an absolutely ridiculous debate--some rube insisting that vampires had to sleep in coffins or else they’d die. Luis had politely, but sternly (and with far too many words) retorted that that was likely completely untrue. First of all, what were vampires supposed to do if they travel? Do they bring their coffin with them or do they have to dig up or buy a new one every single time they go somewhere new? Plus, what constitutes a “coffin”? Do you have to get them from a funeral director in order to be legitimate or can you just nail some human sized plywood together and call it a coffin? In all likelihood, the coffin myth may have some merit to it--in older days, no one would dare to open a coffin, giving any vampires inside more safety to sleep without being disturbed. Where nowadays a random unburied coffin would draw a lot of suspicion, so it would be extremely dangerous to sleep in one regularly, let alone it being mandatory. Luis was very pleased to see the thread archived after his ridiculously long rebuttal.
Still, he never thought he’d see this handle again. And they said they followed his blog too! He couldn’t help the grin that spread across his face as he began typing.
LRUltra: Hey! It’s great to hear from you again! I’m glad my information was helpful :D
LRUltra: But OMG I totally saw that building on the way in!! I thought it looked really neat, I was going to maybe hit it up later in the week!
LRUltra: O: WOW YEAH then it must be your town!!! That’s so cool, what a small world haha!!
LRUltra: I’ve been told there’s quite a bit of supernatural activity around here...what would you say, as a local? If I can ask?
LRUltra: Haha look at me, now I’m the one being forward LOL!
