Lois was born in Metropolis, the oldest daughter of General Sam Lane and the older sister of Lucy. Even though the rest of her family had a long standing history of joining the military, Lois has never felt the inclination to enlist or even attend military school. Lois wanted to be a reporter. She wanted to investigate the truth and share it with the people. She wanted to find stories and give a voice to those that would otherwise be oppressed by people in power.
It was a surprise to absolutely no one that Lois blasted through the ranks of junior reporter and eventually becoming the Daily Planetâs most sort after investigative journalist. Her stories won prizes - not that she cares, those awards are just filed away somewhere⊠theyâre dust collectors that get in the way of writing the truth. Lois needs room to work, yo.
Lois became estranged from the rest of her family. Oh, she still sends them a Christmas card out of courtesy, but her fatherâs black and white views on aliens and wanting to control every aspect of her life really didnât sit well with Lois. So she doesnât bother with them. (She hopes Lucy will come around one day, but isnât holding her breath)
When Superman first arrived in Metropolis, Lois wanted to be the first to interview him. She got her wish - after all, Lois Lane doesnât doesnât back down until she gets her story. It was around the same time Clark Kent started working at the Daily Planet and was told to shadow her on a few other pieces. (Really, why she hadnât put two and two together then is anyoneâs guess, but Lois isnât particularly good at math)
Eventually, Lois came to realize that Clark and Superman were one and the same and their relationship took off. Literally. Her boyfriend could fly!
A few years into their relationship, Clark heard news that there were parts of Krypton that had survived the planetâs explosion and took off without telling Lois. Needless to say, Lois was pissed off. Especially when she discovered she was pregnant.
Lois decided to go it alone and became a dedicated working single mom to her son, Jason. Thankfully Jason hadnât shown any signs of his half-Kryptonian heritage and Lois planned to keep that side from him. Five years passed and Lois wrote a Pulitzer prize winning article titled âWhy the World Doesnât Need Supermanâ. She was getting along with her life just fine, thank you very much.
And then, Superman returned.
There was a whole episode with Lex Luthor again and in defeating his enemy, Superman was hurt. That was when Lois realised the feelings she had never went away. Coming to her senses, Lois took Jason to the hospital where Superman lay and whispered the truth in his ear.
It took a lot of effort, but Lois, Clark, and Jason eventually made it work as a family unit. And a further five years down the track saw the family stay in their river side mansion in Metropolis as well as the occasional visit to the Kent Farm to help Clarkâs mother - who took great joy in spoiling her grandbaby. Jason grew not only in size but in power and Clark helped the boy navigate life as half-Kryptonian, while Lois continued to school the boy in what it was like to grow up human.
Positive Traits: Headstrong to the point of being stubborn; she is able to see more than one side to a situation, giving her a more open and accepting personality than some of the others in the Lane clan; sheâs not afraid to take risks and march to the beat of her own drum.
Negative Traits: She canât spell to save her life; tends to get in over her head and say âthis is fineâ a lot; she has a temper⊠ooo, boy does she ever, donât piss her off.
