HEADCANON.

okay one of the things I have strong feelings about the inner demon that padma has never come to peace with is her insecurity. by looks, I mean. she’s one of those people who are very hateful towards their body image & face. like, as dean thomas quotes in GoF, “ I still can’t work out how you two got the two best-looking girls in the year ? “ yes, padma patil was a very attractive girl but even dean didn’t ask her to the yule ball. she was reserved as a last resort & i feel like eventually she would have found out about that. & ever since that feeling of insecurity has accentuated inside her && I think that’s why she’s much more quieter than parvati. && parvati got asked whereas padma didn’t. she was just told that she had an offer to go with ron weasley & bc it was a matter of prestige & a lifetime opportunity, ofc she’d go.

no matter how much someone tells her that she’s pretty she’ll just laugh it off & be like nah mate. & that is not because she wants to hear more, but bc she genuinely means it.

You’ve got to be mugging me. Astoria’s HEAVY gaze falls on the girl’s back as her eyebrows STAR-ROCKET upwards at the words of ire burning the air. Tsk-tsk , did no one teach her manners? Astoria’s eyes flickered at her acquaintances , noting them with only a FLICKER of her eyes and a short quirk of a grin — after all, like them or NOT , they’re all each other has in this hell hole of a school . HYPOCRITES, all of them — ‘you’re prejudiced ‘ can go from every direction as BACKS ARE TO WALLS and fingers jab in all directions… none at themselves. Pity.

Her plan comes in a second as fingers go to her wand.

gaze quickly turns to the voice that comes addressing her. eyebrows furrow ever so slightly, only to depict that minimal amount of confusion she had now fallen in to. not the story, but the girl had caused it. an unfamiliar face. padma was one to stay quiet, lay in the shadows, befriend silence. but observant, she was. it was surprising for her to look at this fellow raven-haired student & not remember seeing her in the common room. suspicion intact in its place, yet so negligible she makes further enquires about this rumour she had heard wrong.

Astoria’s lips twitch upward into a sardonic sort of smile, and she clears her throat. The green of her tie is as visible as her grin, and she arches a blonde eyebrow at the speaking girl.

“You know,” she says airily, “this one time, I watched this Ravenclaw judge an entire House of children because a handful were badly be- haved.” But she can’t blame the other girl – she’d be a liar if she said that her Housemates weren’t rude, just not much more so than others. “You’ll find bullies everywhere, it seems. Even in ivory towers.”

stiff as a stone she stands, upon hearing the other girl’s words. the truth in her words was uncanny & undeniable. yet, slytherins could not be the ones you lose a battle of words against.
