fudō no suiren ( 不動の水蓮 ), she/her, heian period, kamakura period, & edo period. ancestor of fudō suiren & kaneguchi soraia. reincarnated across centuries. resurrected during the culling game in kaneguchi soraia's body due to a pact made with kenjaku during the heian period.
ryūzōji katsura ( 竜造寺藤 ), she/her, lesbian, 30, japanese. head of the modern iteration of the ryūzōji clan. current descendant of kenjaku & fudō no suiren. special grade 1 sorcerer, trained by the clan. head of japan's largest private welfare company, its creation dating back to the kamakura period. possesses a unique form of external rct that uses shadows.
born with quite literally nothing but her name, akari was left by her parents outside the doorstep of a central orphanage in 1882; daughter of two foreigners to amestris, the name akari proved difficult for the caretakers at the orphanage to say, and thus carrie was born. given the religious upbringing she received while being raised there, carrie found herself a home amongst the youth choir, quickly rising due to her latent talent. in addition to her singing, carrie had discovered early on her own ability to perform alchemy, practicing with the other children away from the watchful eye of the caretakers—however, a fear of getting caught prevented her from continuing to properly hone her skill.
however, as carrie grew older, she found herself growing disenchanted with the strict rules of the orphanage, and by the time she turned 16, she’d aged out of adopting age. now free to carve her own course, carrie first set about reclaiming her name—shedding the more easily-pronounced amestrian name given to her in her youth, she chose to take on the name given to her by the parents, who left her so many years ago. it was difficult: she took on what work she could in order to make a living, from cleaning up shops to serving drinks at pubs along the outskirts of the city. it wasn’t until she turned 18 that she began to sing again, starting small in the very same pubs she served.
just after she turned 20, akari made a deal that would change her life forever: a deal with none other than the homunculus, greed.
with a bit of a push from him, she managed to get the start she needed to eventually skyrocket into one of the most well-known singers across amestris, and in turn, he received both a portion of her earnings and gifts given to her by lovestruck fans. going now by princess akari, she used her popularity and charm ( and occasionally her alchemy ) to woo her way into the deep pockets of unwitting state alchemists and officers all across amestris, robbing them while they were under the impression they were gaining her favor.
as she performed, she wore a thin veil over the lower half of her face with a transmutation circle on it, although if people asked, she would always tell the same sad story about the veil once belonging to her grandmother.
in january of 1912, akari was diagnosed with vocal cord paralysis, leaving her near-voiceless and unable to sing, and despite her best attempts at even reaching out to foreign medicine, she was left with two choices: let nature take its course and perhaps she could sing in a year or so—or never sing again. in a fit of desperation, akari turned to the alchemy she’d only ever used for her own means; after diving deep into research, she performed human transmutation on herself in an attempt to rebuild the damaged nerves of her vocal chords. as a result of attempting to go beyond simple medical alchemy by fully reconstructing her nerves, she came face-to-face with the gate of truth, and her rebound to fit her crime was the total loss of her larynx and thus her voice.
no longer able to talk or sing, akari disappeared from the public eye, leaving many to wonder just what had happened to princess akari. going underground, to continue her deal with greed, akari shed her name once more and began to be known as hush, often called the silent alchemist by those who brushed paths. transmuting her hair white for a disguise and using her newfound ability to transmute without circles, hush once more targeted amestrian officers and alchemists, stealing from them before returning to greed to deliver whatever she pilfered.

shōko : for ocs, i could see shōko interacting with soraia or kumasaburō if she met them both through suiren; there's also katsura, who is a year older than shōko, or the kashimo twins who probably met shōko when they were students about 5 years prior to canon- for canons, definitely tsumiki, kinji ijichi, ino, kusakabe, and yaga come to mind!
megumi : for ocs, i could see megumi interacting with soraia or the kashimo twins! for canon, there's tsumiki, kinji, miminana, ijichi, ino, panda, aoi, or yaga!
