Can I just talk about something other than Sweet Pea’s looks for a second?
Because everytime I watch the show I’m reminded that despite his lack of screen time, he’s literally one of the best (and somehow most developed) characters and has the biggest heart.
He’s the biggest ally on the show. BOTH of his best friends are BISEXUAL AS FUCK and he loves them so much. He would fight to the death for them and murder anyone who hurts them
Yes he’s in a biker gang but he’s against drugs (other than marijuana) because he hates the Ghoulies/Penny and agrees they should be taken care of
He didn’t have a traditional upbringing (or so it’s suggested) but he has traditional values in a way that family means everything to him. He literally put himself in harms way to protect Fangs as he escorted him out of the police station. He is willing to fight to the death for the Southside.
He’s really not that dangerous. Yes, he’s an angry boi but he never uses the knife on anyone or inflicts harm towards anyone. Although he has no problem with using his fists… the knife is only an intimidation tactic.
He may fly off the handle (because he’s passionate dammit!) at first and cook up ideas about pipe bombs but he never follows through because he KNOWS it’s wrong. You can see the internal conflict he has within himself in these scenes but he always does the right thing in the end and talks himself out of it… or at least Jughead does.
After everything the northside took from him and the serpents, he still attended Riverdale High and followed their rules. He just wants a good education and to be a normal boy.
He’s compassionate and despite disliking Jughead, he stands with him, chained up to Southside High. He also protests against Pickens Day knowing it’s wrong to celebrate a man who massacred hundreds of people.
After everything Alice Cooper has said and done to the Southside, he still bursts through her door to help her because he can’t help but give help those who need it. It’s his nature.
The scene after the riot where’s he trashing Riverdale High and catches up with Archie always gets me. When he’s yelling at him, you can just hear the pain in his voice. He knows his best friend is dying in the hospital and he’s just hurting.
Despite being the largest, most physically capable of beating someone to a pulp, and seemingly dangerous character, he still manages to make us feel like he’s just a damaged boy that needs protection.
There’s honestly so much more but it still baffles me that Jordan Connor can easily portray all of this with the little screen time he has to work with. If this isn’t talent, I don’t know what is.
It pains me to think how much better it would have been if they had shown more of him. Here’s to hoping for season three but the lack of posts on set is really worrying me.
