For what it’s worth: It’s never too late to be whoever you want to be. I hope you live a life you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.
F. Scott Fitzgerald (via seabelle)
You can either pussy foot around someone and make them feel comfortable in their surroundings that clearly need improving or you can keep it real with them and tell them what they need to hear in order to change. “Yes people” add no value to your life, their influence has no real change, they are simply there to massage the ego. Real changes and improvements occur when someone comes in and forces you to change. However, most people are either too scared or too content to take the risk to change their lives for the better and tbh it isn’t your job to spend energy convincing them either. Keeping yes people around you is more damaging than your short-term hurt feelings.

Rocky Rivera- God Steppin
I have been following Rocky Rivera for a couple of years now. When I first listened to her back in 2012, I already thought she was a talent to be reckoned with. In the time since, she has consistently bettered herself with every new song released.
Her newest EP, Nom de Guerre is not only a crowning achievement musically, but it could just be the most important record of this year. In the very least, it will serve as a snapshot of this time. Eric Garner and Mike Brown’s deaths in particular are not to be forgotten, and something as simple as singing their names will help keep them in memory.
Although a lot of the tracks are musically upbeat, the lyrical content is an extremely personal account of Rocky’s frustrations with misogynists, racism and especially the cultural climate in the U.S. right now. Her delivery is so honest and raw, which makes listening both a refreshing experience and a somber one.
Nom de Guerre is out now.
