I will never ever take criticism of humanitarian workers/NGOs spreading their own values seriously when it comes from a man. Especially a heterosexual man. "But who are you to tell them how to live their life" A fucking woman. I don't need to believe that my country is the most advanced form of civilization (and believe me, I don't) to strive for better for women everywhere. You will never know what it's like to be part of the female half of the population. To have the dehumanisation and mistreatment of people like you be treated like a normal cultural difference like clothing or food. Something that you need to tolerate or even celebrate.
Everywhere you look, on every continent, in every era, women and girls are treated like sub-human trash. But you shouldn't be too vocal about it, because it's insensitive. Oh it's cultural, oh it's tradition, oh it's a different way to look at things.
Yes women on this island are not allowed to fish for themselves because they would taint the food. Yes 10 year old girls in that region have to hide everything but their face and will be married in 2 years. Yes in that country teaching is the only profession women are allowed to work in. Yes in that culture women aren't allowed in religious buildings because they are considered impure. But it's fine. It's the culture they live in, they don't have a problem with it. Everyone but you is happy, stop being such a privileged classist racist atheist snowflake. It's just the way the world is.
