Merrock would like to welcome IONE LOVETT! I (she/her, female) was born on  August 2nd, 1995 in Santa Barbara, CA and has been in town for 4 Months in Merrock. Currently, they live in The Coast & Pier and are working as a writer/poet . They look a little bit like Danielle Campbell, no? –

Intro: Bear with it, alas...

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA. to Troy and Tracey (Sanders) Lovett.

Birthday Aug. 2nd, 1995 // Leo sun; Libra moon; Cancer rising //

Her father’s a (famous) novelist, with specialty in sci-fi and horror. 

Troy met Tracey when she was a flight attendant while on his first novels book tour.

Tracey made a name and fortune for herself in the late 80′s/early 90′s with her fitness VHS’. 

Continuing in the market, she’s since opened wildly successful yoga studios throughout California. Has since opened a sought after wellness retreat outside LA.

When Ione was 11 an incident while on a family vacation in France happened. Her younger brother Zion was abducted while on the watch of her and her siblings. (Twins, Stella and Ryder (31)) 

Unsure to this day what really happened, the fictional take was to her families surprise detailed in a Troy Lovett novel for the world to read. 

Though fiction, it’s clear the hurt and blame he’d continued to project on his remaining children and sullied their relationship even more. 

Tracey and Troy divorced not long after the disappearance, Tracey getting the ranch, where Ione and her siblings remained majority of the time.

Is insanely close and idolizes her sister, Stella and has a bit of strained relationship with Ryder.

After graduation decided to take a gap year and travelled around Europe 

Enrolled at NYU only to drop out after two semesters

Always has been a bit of wild child.

Growing up around a ranch, she loves animals. Specifically horses.

Bit of hippie, total feminist

too emo at times, and definite daddy issues

Bit of a drifter

Is a writer as well, and had a small collection of her poetry published. It’s one thing she’s constantly unsure of using the Lovett name.

Has been an Au Pair in Italy most recently for a year and half

Teaches yoga at her mom’s studio when back home

Has lived with her sister in Brooklyn on and off for the past decade

Is house-sitting for a friend of her step-mother on the coast  in Merrock (Che Gupta’s mom)

 She’s been in and out of NY for the last ten years.

After a much needed excuse to get out of the house— in Ione’s case a break from the beach. The beach a definite version of a therapy session, social detox and hangover cure all in one and she was reminded via text that somewhere, somehow she’d missed the memo of winning at the raffle she randomly decided to put some cash into, instead finding herself spending the majority of Creek Fest wickedly intoxicated and winding through a maze she basically was last called on. 

So here she was, outside the source, having just collected what felt like that $200 after passing go really, when one of the last people (okay the last) person she thought she’d run into was directly in eyesight. Shit. That different kind of thrill passed through her body then, heart suddenly pounding and Ione thought for a moment to go back, waste time with the receptionist at Bardales until she was no longer breathing the same air, he was funny after all. But the other part that had this encounter primed and ready in her mind was already biting at her lip holding back the smile that came with just the thought of Sydney again— that encounter though was supposed to be on her volition. Not yet quite sure how to articulate or justify her now-life in Merrock. 

“Hey you...been a while. Uh, hand over heart I um, didn’t think I’d run into you...today. Not that I wouldn’t want to I just—” That smile she was holding back fully on display after tangling her own thoughts with words that don’t quite fit, she finally let out with a quick breath of ease, “Hi.”

The rest of Jules stilled as they blinked a few times, rapid in secession. “You know, I’ve heard a lot of random thoughts strung together over the years, but those may well be the most oddly coupled up things to say back to back that I’ve ever heard.” Her hand swirled the rest of her merlot around in the glass, head cocked at an angle to get a good look at said art. “Hm,” they mused. “I mean, I’m not nearly the kind of art snob you may have me fooled with, and I’m a bit of a cheapskate, so we’ll say fifty? Maybe sixty if you could convince me it was somehow a lost interpretation of my childhood. As for the other…” They trailed off, flashing a knowing look. “Sounds pretty specific. Never been in the misfortune of being in that position, but would I be wrong in guessing you have?”

“Really? Good. I aim to be stuck in your conversational memory bank. The girl with the oddly coupled questions.” Ione while teasing back, wholly meant exactly that. She brought the white wine she was almost a bottle deep in with to her lips at the other’s same motion, her laughter fogging up the inside of her glass. Fifty it was. “Actually yes, but it never hurts to be prepared. Who knows maybe it’ll be your wedding, and I’ll know exactly what to do.”

As he was about to answer to the first question, the second one left him quite surprised… and yet, weirdly interesting by the messy situation. “Do you want me to be honest?”, he asked, raising his eyebrows. “I live for the drama. I’ll wait till I find the perfect moment to let everyone know I’ve fucked them.”

“And just like that I’d much prefer you lie.” she said, teasing after his response to his interjection to the potentially doomed couple’s fate. “So you’re a big production at the objections part of the ceremony I take it? And I thought I was dramatic.”

Shaun blew air through his teeth as he stared at the painting. “I’m terrible when it comes to pricing. I’m still living back in the early 2000s when everything was cheap. Like, my mind wants to say $20, but I know that it should be around $50… maybe more?” He tilted his head, glancing at the wall as if thought of the other question. “Hmm, might be a little awkward, but I like to think that I’d play it cool. What’d you do?”

“Irony being all things early 2000′s is back in—but yeah, quadruple the cost now.” Wincing a bit at the reminder, internally praying to fashion Gods that particular trends stay cheap and dead. “Guess you never know until you’re in the position. But sadly in this case I haven’t done anything, been in a couple sticky situations sure but this was just nighttime soap inspiration—I was watching a Netflix shuffled for you show. Brazilian, super dramatic.”

Mandy adjusted her apron and wiped her hands on an old rag before tossing it into the pile. She approached Ione to look at the painting she had been working on. She nodded. “I’m no curator, but maybe you’ll get $50?” She tucked her blonde hair behind her ear. “Acrylic right?” She ducked her head to study the painting a little more. “As for the second part of the question, yikes. But because I’m a totally shameless human being, I’d probably pull something off like in John Tucker Must Die or The Other Woman. I never said I was a good person,” she grinned. Hey, at least she was being honest.

“Hm, that seems fair.” Ione pondered the piece a little longer before a smile broke out, “Oh, I have no idea. The woman that was just here said, and I quote, ‘Burn it, sell it, claim it as your own. He get’s nothing’” Ione made a face, holding a smile back for the sake of undoubtedly disturbed woman before. “Oh yeah? Go on. I’ve never seen.”

I don’t know about tradition but nearly every year I have lived here, so.. five years almost, I have witnessed at least one person being escorted out by employees. Never, my teeth are all thanks to my mama. It just means you’re buying!

“That counts - and I definitely don’t want to become the addition to your sixth year. Noo thank you. Well that’s a given, should I lose. You tell your mama she’s got a nice teeth gene going or her dentistry skills are on point, either or.”

I am happy to hear you’re enjoying it so far. If it’s of any comfort, we would not be the first nor the last to need rescuing from the maze. Caramel apple, got it. That just means I am going to have to make it out first. 

“No? It’s tradition to get completely stuck? That’s exactly what it means, what not a caramel apple fan? Did you have braces growing up?”

Haha, I can work with that. It probably makes the odds more fair without the high probability of getting lost in there. What ‘or something’ am I betting on here? Or do I have to wait? 

“Yeah, this fest is cute. I like it at the moment, really don’t need it soured with a search party, you know? Aaand, yeah. You have to wait. Prize at the end of the road- er, maze. Unless they still have those caramel apples then, there’s no ‘or something’ — this is only if I’m the last one out, of course.”

“I know this may be the wine talkin’, but I’ve got this undyin’ urge to try my hand at the corn maze. And not the easy one.” Excusing her previous encounter with the sunflower maze, and how she barely managed to get through the one, Mercy couldn’t let the opportunity pass. She might even make it to the end this time. “…Be my partner?” She finally asked, glancing up through her lashes and lower lip pursing out slightly. “I’ll even get you somethin’ if we make it to the end.”

“Oh it is definitely the wine talking—” Ione was sure to point that out, the maze not necessarily on her Creek Fest itinerary but Mercy and that drawl had her at hello so, “And what’s the prize? I might need a liiitle incentive here. Last time I was in one of these- way less family friendly - a Freddy Krueger and I just gave up, lost in the stars with some really truly incredible hash. So if you’ve got any of that on you...”
