this is probably one of my favorite tk interviews i've read so far and i don't even know where it came from because i read the whole transcript on reddit which seems to be the only place it's been uploaded, as far as i can tell. it's from 2007 though. so many good brandon momence here
slide 1 - sam's town as an album is very springsteen-esque (& heavily inspired by his work) which brandon says he regrets mentioning because that admission paved the way for soooo many comparisons which ended up being pretty negative but anyway the question was since bruce is so overtly political, is that something the killers would want to explore in the same way etc, and brandon's answer was no but then he goes on to say Well basically i get up on stage and sing about being bisexual so don't even worry about it really. 😭
slide 2 - "i just know that i tried it for an album and i'm done" literally what did he mean by this....... also to follow up with a grave pause and "it was just something that happened"........ there were overt queer, homoerotic themes and lyricism within the album and behavior from his side and it was just something that happened. To him. being gay was fun but it's time for a wife and kids now
slide 3 - this is in reference to him meeting morrissey while working as a bellhop. real brandonheads know that this is where he stole morrissey's cup that he still has to this day. also not sure if this is the same night where he apparently was handling the luggage and went through it? i think it was that he was curious about unreleased music and then he called ronnie to the hotel to burn it onto a cd for him fkdhkdhdj
slide 4 - another awkward slash very strange slash slightly endearing brandon moment with an artist he looks up to although it's actually not that endearing at all why are you talking about shaving your fuckass mustache and sending it to neil tennant in an envelope. i would've loved to hear that initial conversation because frankly i never considered the facial hair as a concerted effort to do anything at all but the thought is funny. and like they certainly took brandon and that album seriously. 5 million copies worth of taking him seriously
