I know this song is a bit cliché, but as I was listening to it the other day I couldn’t help but think of you, Alceste. You need to listen to it and really think about the words. You have a way of bridling at whatever people say; whether they praise or blame, your angry spirit is equally unsatisfied to hear it. There is no reason to constantly criticize or look for flaws in others. If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all. Again, I know it’s cliché, but it’s a valid point.

Celimene the ruckus you caused with Alceste Acaste and Clitandre really got out of hand earlier today.. You should know by now that the importance in a loved one shouldnt be the wealth or position that he may carry in the courts, but him by his true nature self and to acknowledge the faults he may carry with him. Instead of insisting on suiting a multitude of men so your case my go to your liking. Sometimes I feel that Philinte is the only person who knows how I feel about this..

I do know what you mean... What Celimene did was absolutely ridiculous! I have yet to figure out what Alceste sees in such a coquettish and troublesome human being. He should be chasing after you, the honest and nice one. All I want is your happiness, so let's do everything we can to change the mind of this unhappy man.

Oh Eliante, why do you have such feelings for Alceste? While he is always honest, he is horribly rude in his ways. Do you prefer frankness to courtesy? I want you to remember, should you be cheated of Alceste, I'd be most happy to be second best.

I prayed for my dear Célimène today at church. Her reputation is not getting any better with her coquettish ways, and I wish she would take my thoughtful advice and start thinking about her actions. I mean not to hurt her, I truthfully am concerned about my friend; it feels as if my heart is being torn apart to hear others talk unpleasant gossip about her!

That is a very kind thing of you to do, arsi-noway.I completely understand where you're coming from. I'm very worried about her too, and I don't know how her actions will affect the relationship between her and Alceste. I fear some bitter sorrow is in store.

With all that's been talked about in getting along with other people, being tolerant is perhaps one of the most important attributes. It allows us to take advantage of people's differences and accomplish things that aren't possible by each person ...

I recently read this article and I think it's wonderful. It is about being open to what other people have to say and respecting their thoughts even if you don't agree with them. Once again, it reminds me of a situation I observed involving Alceste. This fellow named Oronte was sharing a piece of his poetic works with Alceste and I when Alceste began to openly trash his writing. Alceste was horrendously open and rude regarding what he thought of the poem, and Oronte ended up taking him to court. A gentleman may be respected still, whether he writes a sonnet well or ill. If Alceste had just held his tongue or taken a moment to view the poem from Oronte's perspective, then he would not have been in this scenario.

What would you do?

So today I found myself in a rather sticky situation. I was walking back from lunch with my friend Alceste when this man comes up to me and gives me hug. The man was ecstatic at the sight of me, and he looked very familiar, but I could not for the life of me recall who he was. I decided it would be best to go along with the man's excitement to avoid hurting his feelings. Later, however, Alceste began to scold me for my actions and deemed me as dishonest. I suppose that technically I was dishonest, but  I see it as: when someone greets us with a show of pleasure, it's but polite to give him equal measure, return his love the best we know how, and trade him offer vow for vow.

What would you have done?

I figured before I begin posting, it would be best if my followers knew what I look like. I remember very clearly the day that this picture was painted. I went with my friend Alceste to get a portrait of myself, but he ended up offending the artist , so we are no longer allowed to go back. It was a miracle that we even got the finished product!! Maybe someday he'll learn to be more polite with his commentary....
