Magikarp Saw the Light

We almost killed Magikarp last night. It definitely was not on purpose, even if he is feisty and stares at me funny.

I had placed a plant at smileface1's behest into his aquarium. A plastic rose. Well, the dye seeped out and filled the whole of Magikarp's bowl, all two inches of it. Smileface1 performed some extreme maneuvers and transferred him from his bowl to a red cup. I then cleaned the tainted home. She transferred him back and he was happy and not on the brink of death.

A close call, but we have now learned our lesson. No roses for Magikarp!

A Challenger Appears!

We recently got a Betta fish not too long ago--smileyface1 has been doing an impeccable job of taking care of him thus far. We opened up a forum on twitter and facebook and asked for people to submit names to us. We would like to thank everyone who participated, you guys are awesome.

Many great names were submitted, but we reached a unanimous, instantaneous "OH MY GOD THIS FISH MUST BE NAMED THAT" when we read one entry in particular.

The Unnamed Seeds passed away last Sunday, January 30th. We believe it was a hate crime, but the motives are unknown. The Unnamed Seeds fell out of Jeffrey the Pot and scattered across the windowsill. Gone from their comfy and safe habitat, they quickly perished or went missing soon after the hate crime occurred. Although some of The Unnamed Seeds are missing, the authorities believe that they are deceased now. There is no attempt being made to find any missing Unnamed Seeds. RIP, The Unnamed Seeds.

Investigation on Hiatus

The investigation into Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds' murder is currently on hiatus due to my catching the flu and having to go home sick. My roommate will of course be keeping a careful watch over the crime scene, should anyone wish to tamper with the evidence.

Breaking News!

There has been a murder on the windowsill! Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds have been found overturned, their dark soil-y innards dashed against the white of the windowsill. It's truly a horrific scene!

Details and the suspect to follow after a lengthy investigation. Stay tuned for details of when we solves this horrible and abominable crime.

Tired after a long day, I decided to listen to Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in e minor. I figure Jeffrey must not hear much music throughout the day; I would think his music would consist of the roaring of cars, the tip tap of those passing by on the sidewalk below, and blaring sirens fading into the distance. Goodnight Jeffrey. I hope you enjoyed the many melodies of Tchaikovsky's Symphony. I wonder what else would be good to listen to...is there such thing a music-loving plant?

LOL JK GUYS.

That didn't really happen. It's a dried rose I've got that needs putting into a memory box. But, I've given the Unnamed Seeds something to aspire too! Something to hold as paramount, something to emulate as they germinate their little hearts out.

Here, we can see what Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds view as they sit patiently on our windowsill. Such a beautiful vista! They are really lucky to have such a prime view, aren't they?

We wake up to find...this?! A rose, fully-formed, seems to have bloomed overnight! This is madness! Insanity, I say! Obviously, the packaging was not lying when it said "Grow Mini Roses in DAYS." If I may say, that does not look like a mini rose.

I wonder how the other 5 seeds will turn out?!

Sunshine and Happy Days

Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds are having a fabulous time out on the windowsill. It was a great decision to bring them all inside, where they can just enjoy the sunlight and the stale apartment air.

They now get a very luxurious 3 hours of excruciatingly bright sunlight, sunlight so bright that it shoves its way past our shoddy blinds and commands the room as its own. Us roommates usually wake up around 6 AM due to this obnoxious light. Now, we won't be half as annoyed because at least Jeffrey and the Unnamed Seeds are enjoying it! It's a definite improvement over the zero sumptuous hours of light they were receiving while out on the balcony.

Then again, they had fresh air.

Our Second and Most Important Trial

We discovered our second and perhaps most major trial today: How do we water such a tiny thing? How much? Will the water make its way down to the bottom or will it get stuck up top? My roommate and I decided to sprinkle it with water and hope for the best. Props to her for taking the plunge!

Getting Everyone Up to Speed on Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds

Jeffrey the Pot and the Unnamed Seeds is a journey being taken by my roommate and I. It is an adventure where we try and prove that we are not too busy to nurture something to life. We decided to start extremely small, with a tiny potted plant. If all goes well, maybe we’ll graduate to a goldfish or something. If it doesn’t go well, we’ll call it a fluke and get a goldfish or something anyway.
