will would drive himself insane thinking about mike's stupid tiny waist. the way it curves in perfectly ā it's so damn grabbable, it makes him want to scream.
whenever mike yawns or scratches his head, reaches to put his d&d books away on a high shelf, hangs onto the top of will's doorframe when he comes up to tell him dinner is ready, or takes his dumb grandma sweaters off and accidentally tugs the t-shirt up along with it, exposing that pale, freckle-kissed skin and the smooth taper of his perfect waist, it makes will's brain borderline short-circuit. he can barely think of anything else all day, let alone pretend his eyes aren't tracking every one of mike's movements just to get another glimpse of that life-ruining curve.
and then after they get together, and mike has become well aware of will's preoccupation with that particular feature of his, nothing can stop him from milking it for all it's worth.
losing a argument? oh sorry didn't mean to pull my shirt up, my stomach was just really itchy. will's been too busy painting all day to pay him any attention? hey, i just realized if i put my hands around my waist, my fingers can almost touch! isn't that crazy? going to a club with will's art school friends who get a little too touchy when they drag will onto the dance floor? hmmm, i just felt like this outfit needed a tight belt right here to really pull it all together.
as he gets more confident and reassured by his boyfriend's blatant lust for his body, he starts experimenting with clothing that shows off his lithe figure instead of hiding it, the way he'd always try to in the past ā skin-tight, high-waisted pants that make his legs look miles long, cropped t-shirts that just barely kiss the bottom of his ribcage, leaving his waist bare (until will's arms wrap around it to stop anyone else from seeing what's his), sparkly silver belly chains that his boyfriend loves to hook his finger into to yank mike towards him for a kiss.
will rues the day he ever told mike about his waist thing because he can't go a day without being absolutely tortured by the sight of it, but he'll happily let the other boy take advantage of his weakness all he wants, because if will has to lose a few arguments, or take a little longer on a painting, to see mike strut around like the model will has always seen him as, head held high, free of all the voices calling him 'toothpick' and 'beanpole' that used to poison the way he saw himself? well then, it'd all be worth it.
and, let's be real, he's not complaining about the view š¬š®āšØ
