I gotta say... I really dont care about doomsday. I will obviously see it but i'm not hyped for it, I'm not excited. I saw the concept art and it looks ridiculous. I am way more excited for the new Spiderman than for doomsday. which is so funny cause they're trying to make doomsday into this big thing like endgame, but it is sooooooo not similar at all.
endgame had years of build up and tie-ins and world building and they made us care about the characters. the last few years of marvel have been like, okay here are these characters!!! you'll never see them again!!! who is moonknight??? we dont know him!!! here is a post credit scene that is never going to go anywhere!!! yay Hercules!!!! oh wait he's gone!!!! also here are 34 tv shows and we're going to make some insane story choice that dont make any actual sense!!! enjoy!!! also we are rendering the tearful, extremely significant departures of Chris Evans and RDJ completely and totally meaningless because we actually made them the leads again!!!! so you will basically be watching civil war 2!!!! isn't that fun!!! :)
dont get me wrong there's been some enjoyable stuff that has come out post-endgame. but they bit off waaaaaaay more than they could chew and now they have kind of made it so that most of the post-endgame projects are irrelevant. what was the point of making 90 shows and 66 movies if youre going to completely abandon certain characters / stories? I'm not saying that every single project has to be weight-bearing and has to directly lead to doomsday, but it's so odd that they made soooooooo much stuff that doesn't play into their super mega awesome doomsday movie. it was obviously a 'throw everything at the wall and see what sticks' strategy + striking while the super hero movie iron is hot. but man, if they'd just planned better and been more thoughtful about what they were making, people might actually be hyped for doomsday.
its also funny to me that we heard about thanos and the infinity stones quite a lot throughout the movies leading to infinity war / endgame. it was a nice, gradual build full of hints at what was to come. but this is not that at all. they're just like surprise!!! its doctor doom!!! also there were no other actors available in the entire world so we got RDJ.
