âHow can I translate my writing process to other work outside of this classroom?â
Outside of the classroom, I can use my writing process when writing for fun or for other teachers. I think my new process will be helpful to use on research assignments. Another way I could use it is just with life in general. When you have a goal, you can make an outline, plan how youâre going to achieve it, edit a little, then finish.Â
I like what you said in regards to having a goal. Itâs very similar to writing in that when want to achieve what you want you have to plan it out and if what youâre doing doesnât seem like itâs going to work, you revise it or change it.Â

The most challenging assignment for me this semester would have to be the rhetorical analysis. It was enjoyable, but doing the research and putting aside my opinions was difficult.Â
I donât think itâs super improved, but my abilities to write faster have improved, if that makes sense. The deadlines really creep up on you.Â
I agree. Rhetorical analysis is still challenging for me as well. I think I have a better grasp on it, but still find it to be one the more difficult assingments for me in english classes.

For my counter-argument on the infographic, I stated I believe universities and colleges must readily prepare themselves for situations as such, and any situations in the future. In proving this argument, that they were ill-prepared, I believe showing the drop out rates due to the pandemic would be a great point, along with the mental impact that the route these universities went down, has on college students. I know I can personally say I struggle with school in general, so the chaos around the pandemic and our education has just made it worse.
I like what you were arguing here. I 100% agree that colleges werenât very prepared for this and it has taken a toll on students because I think a lot of students are stuggling to have motivation to do work and more kids will continue to drop out because of it.Â

Evaluating a source is a crucial part of the research process. When researching, you will find millions of sources, but it is important to make sure they are credible. I would say that the most important thing I learned from HTWAâs chapter, âEvaluating Sourcesâ, is that researching the authorâs background will help you determine if the source is credible. When researching about the author of the source, you will be able to determine their credentials, professional affiliations, etc.. With this information you will find out if their background is strong enough for them to write a credible source. From now on, this knowledge will help me determine if the author of the source is credible and I will start by looking at the authorâs name when I first click on the source.
I like the idea of researching the authorâs background. Â I never thought about that and I think itâs a really good way for chrecking their credibility.I think itâs really cool how we can research in this day in age and discover peopleâs background and credibility from just one click.

How can I translate my writing process to other work outside of this classroom?
I think I can translate my writing process to other work outside of class by using the process of revsing and editing on things like the papers I have in my psychology class or history class.

What assignment has been the most challenging for you this semester and why?
I think the infographic assignment was the most challanging because Iâve never the best with graphic design stuff like that so creating something visual while also forming and writing an argument about a certain topic along with using rhetocial appeals at the same time was of the harder things I had to do this semester.
How has your writing improved this semester? Be specific (if you feel it hasn't improved, you can say that, too).
I feel like itâs imporved because I have a better grasp on logos, ethos and pathos, but other than, Iâm not too sure if itâs imporved too dramatically

The reason it is so important to evaluate a source is to make sure the source is credible enough to gather facts from. The most integral part of evaluating a source is making sure that the article is publsihed by a reliable source. Websites like New York Times and the Wall Street Journal tend to be very trustworthy. From what I read in this chapter, I feel like I will be much more inclined to review things like who published it, the date it was published and the audience of the article when reading an article and before using it as a source.Â

I found this infographic on easel.ly and the intended audience are people who donât know how to detect fake news. The purpose of this image is to educate the reader on the consequences of trusting fake news as a credible source. This infographic uses rhetorical appeals such as ethos when talking about what ACC Professors require. This also uses pathos when stating, âtrusting these false stories could lead you to make decisions that may be harmful to your healthâ. The author uses repitition to make their argument by continuously stating that fake news is harmful. The author also uses proximity when grouping his explanations into three separate categories; many believe fake news articles, fake news can affect your grades and fake news can be harmful to your health. Personally, this image enhances my knowledge on the many ways fake news can be harmful to individuals.
I think you did a really good job explaining this whole infographic and identfying the rhetorical strategies used. Especially ethos because thatâs something I donât think I would caught. I think this infographic really goes with our hashtag #expectationvsreality because the reality is that fake news is everywhere itâs very easy to believe what you hear if it seems credible enough. I like that you also mentioned repitition because it really does reinforce the idea that fake news is very harmful for you in many ways.

The purpose of this photo is to show that graduates feel almost trapped and imprisoned because of the burdening student loan debt theyâll have to pay off for the rest of their life. I think the image really uses pathos by the way it shows this graduating student standing inside a jail cell to play on the fact that student debt can feel imprisoning. The image uses the principle of design of repitition. The way the image uses repitition is with the many posters hanging around the jail cell on the back of the truck. Each posters reinforces and repeats the argument that student debt should not be as bad as it is.

As I read the essay from The Guardian, âHow to write the perfect sentenceâ one quote in particular stuck out to me. âA sentence is much more than its literal meaning. It is a living line of words where logic and lyric meet.â This quote is telling the readers that every sentence that an author write has a deeper meaning. You might read a literary piece and not think once about it but the author puts thought and emotion into each sentence to get the correct message across to the reader. This quote helps readers to understand the time and effort it takes the author to make sure every part of their writing is thoughtfully written. This happens so the reader isnât misinterpreting the piece and can see the clear image that the author is trying to illustrate.Â
I liked this quote as well! And I think the way you spoke of it really put a different perspective on it. Itâs true that behind every sentance is a deeper meaning that unfortunately some donât see.Â

The piece of advice that really stood out to me was the quote âA sentence is much more than its literal meaning. It is a living line of words where logic and lyric meet.â The reason this quote stuck with me is because I feel like this is something I could personally really improve on in my writing. When it comes to my writing, I can find it difficult to explicate any sort of reading and translate itâs true meaning on paper. I totally agree though. I think a good sentence should be lyrical and flow.

Throughout my AP English class Junior year peer reviewing was something we commonly did. I have always had mixed feelings about peer reviews. I love getting feedback on my papers and seeing where I can improve, however I sometimes feel like I might get judged if my paper isn't great.
One of the most useful things I found from doing peer reviews is having a checklist of things that were supposed to be included in the paper and checking off each section as you are reading through your peers paper.
One thing I don't like about peer review is the effort put into the process by peers. Throughout my Junior year we would change up who our peer review partners were. With differnet people I felt that sometimes they wouldn't put as much effort into reviewing my paper as I would do for them. This can be frustrating sometimes when you are giving 100% effort and editing with your full attention and the person editing your paper isn't doing the same for you.
I totally agree with you! Sometimes when people are editing my paper, I can find  it pretty annoying when they donât put any effort into actually reading through it and finding things I can improve on.Â

In the past whenever I had a paper that was peer-reviewed, I found it really helpful. Mainly because it was a fresh look on my paper and they picked up on things that I didnât. Sometimes I would have trouble with choosing the right words to make it flow correctly. The type of suggestions that I preferred were ones that suggested different ways to reword a sentance to make it flow and sound better overall. Suggestions that are vague and donât specifically point out what I need to fix are typically least helpful for me.
