hi tumblr.
last april, i lost my dad after a battle with cancer that was simultaneously quite brief and excruciatingly long.
during his sickness and after his death, i kept a journal and made playlists of songs that resonated with me as i moved through the stages of grief. sometimes these movements were linear, sometimes they were back and forth, and sometimes they were slightly uncharitable. i find it funny looking back how drawn i was to specific genres as i was going through different phases of my grief journey.
i collected these feelings and notes and reflections over the past couple months and made some songs. i hope they can help someone whoâs experiencing pain know youâre not alone.
i have always been scared to share any music i make, but iâve been incredibly inspired by michelle zauner (jbrekkie) over the past two years, and i see how important it is to speak about lived experiences and to be honest so that other people can find solace in community. reading crying in h mart and listening to jubilee helped me tremendously through some of the worst days of my life. art is so beautiful.
