noah fence but why do tv show writers even bother with their jobs knowing that nothing on tv will ever be as iconic as Jack Shephard lying down on the forest floor with Vincent while the plane carrying the friends he died for passes overhead as he expends his last energy slowly smiling up at it in relief and joy that they’ve made it before finally letting go and moving on as the music swells and the camera focuses on his now closing eyes, paralleling the also iconic opening scene 6 seasons earlier and bringing the show to a satisfying but emotionally draining close. like why do they even bother tbh
