yesterday
began my 30-day yoga challenge. lets see if i can keep it up with tax busy season now and teacher training starting in a little over 2 weeks. call me crazy
the first yoga class i took was a $35 once a week, month long class at my university gym. even though i liked the classes, the living-off-my-parents college me couldnāt justify spending $35 on 4 yoga classes. there were more important things on my mind back then: studying to get good grades and not spending my parents money on āuselessā habits like yoga.
it wasnāt until 3 years later that yoga would make a reappearance in my life. i have heard great things about a yoga studio called corepower yoga and decided to take advantage of their free week trial. i went 5 days of the seven and loved every moment of it. it didnāt matter that i was a complete newbie at this; no one cared (at least thatās the impression i got. for all i know everyone was judging my improper alignments and lack of balance, strength and flexibility).
even with a steady income, i couldnāt justify spending $100+ on a month membership. but that didnt stop me. i would go to the studioās free weekend classes from time to timeācheap olā me did that for a couple of months (*not ashamed). luckily i found a groupon for corepower and for a month in the summer of 2013 i went to classes religiously. after the month ended, i stopped going for a couple months. finally, in october, i made the plunge and became a full fledged member at corepower.
since then, iāve been going to yoga at least 3 times a week for the past 3+ months. i love it so much that i signed up for teacher training starting this february 19. i am beyond excited to deepen my yoga practice and earn the certification to share this passion of mine to whomever is interested.
i recently have been able to do a supported headstand with the help of the wall. i am hoping to do this without the wall in the next few months.
