past 3 years ive been on and off writing a fe lucina multific centered around the 3rd future past DLC in between where grima's defeated and she's crowned exalt and... it's still not done lmao
like i finally finished(?) the first chapter but it's still a rough draft and I spent the last five days on it and I know if I reread it I'm gonna want to rewrite some parts and add in new things and I need to stop!!!
ideally it's going to have 9-12 chapters and I have like bits of the other chapters written and planned out but nowhere near finished
anyway expect the first chapter to be posted the next couple of days? maybe the first week of September? idk we'll see hopefully September haha

Lucina enters the courtyard and spots Inigo sitting at one of the tables under a gazebo. He's chatting away with a group of girls who stand around him, giggling and blushing at whatever he's saying.
“Ah! Lucina!” Inigo spots her and waves her over. “I'm sorry, my lovely ladies, but I have a prior engagement with my dear friend here.” The girls let out noises of disappointment. “Don't fret, we'll have a chance to talk again soon,” he bows with a wink and a charming smile, and the girls erupt into giggles again, blushing as they say goodbye to Inigo and leave the courtyard.
“My, aren’t you the popular one?” Lucina sits down in the chair across the table from him. “I’m surprised you didn’t shoo me away to have tea with one of those girls.”
“I would never pass up a chance to have tea with you!” Inigo proclaims as he pours her a cup. “You’re so busy nowadays that every chance I get to spend with you must be treasured.”
“And your flattery hasn’t changed one bit since we enrolled.” Lucina sips the tea, the fruity taste soothing and warm.
“It’s an Albinean berry blend,” Inigo tells her. “Recommended by the lovely Mercedes. Have you met her?”
“I have. She's very sweet.” Lucina replies. She can tell, with the way Inigo is chattering away, that there's something he wants to talk to her about, but is nervous.
“You know, I thought you’d show up with Severa. You two are practically inseparable these days.” Inigo comments, “It makes me feel lonely.”
“She's out with Hilda doing some shopping.” Lucina tells him, “And you don’t look too lonely when I see you with a group of girls in the dining hall every afternoon.” she points out, “Actually, Severa and I were discussing this the other day: the girls at the academy seem to be charmed by your flirting, compared to the past when you were constantly rejected.”
“What can I say? I’ve grown and matured,” he smiles, and Lucina can’t help the laugh that escapes her. “And- well, I’m not exactly trying to get their attention,” he admits, “Honestly, I think my handsome face and mysterious air draw them in.” he winks at her, and Lucina snorts in amusement as she takes another sip of tea.
It’s late at night, an unreasonable hour for the students of the Officer’s Academy to be awake but- well, Lucina seldom goes to sleep at a reasonable hour.
She sits by the fishing pond with Severa, their feet dangling above the water as they enjoy the quiet and peaceful night. The sound of the water rippling from the fish, the crickets chirping, and the occasional owl hoot.
“Now I know why you like to walk around at night,” Severa says with a quiet hum. "It's nice. I wouldn’t do this every night but- I like it."
It’s been two months since they enrolled at the Officer’s Academy as students with Gerome and Inigo, and their little group has become instantly well-known and popular throughout the academy for being ‘mysterious foreign students’, as Inigo had put it.
“You know that Gautier kid Sylvain?” Severa asks her suddenly, “Reddish hair, notorious flirt?”
The Blue Lions student comes to mind. Three years her junior, he had also asked Lucina out a few weeks after they had enrolled.
Well, he had attempted to. Lucina had been too engrossed in conversation with Edelgard that she hadn’t noticed until Gerome had disappeared from her side.
From what Inigo told her, Gerome had quickly put a stop to Sylvain approaching her, and she hasn’t been approached by the student since.
It’s not like they had a reason to speak to each other anyway.
“I am aware of him and the rumors that surround him, yes.”
“Yeah, well- earlier today he asked me out to dinner.”
“When was this?”
“When you went to talk to Professor Byleth before lunch,” she continues, “Anyway- he asked me out. I mean- I get it. I am super hot after all,” she tosses her hair over her shoulder with a smug grin.
“You are.” Lucina agrees with a smile. “You’re beautiful and lovely, Severa.”
“You know- you’re remarkably less jealous than I thought you’d be." Severa retorts, though she is pleased by Lucina's compliment. “Considering someone was trying to ask your girlfriend out on a date.”
“I was simply agreeing with you,” she replies, “And why should I be jealous? I know that I’m the only one in your heart after all.”
“Ugh. You’re being so- cheesy right now.” Severa groans, “I don’t know how anyone can say that kind of thing with a straight face.” Despite her displeasure, her cheeks are dusted pink.
So prickly. Lucina smiles.
“You’re like a hedgehog sometimes,” Lucina states, pressing a kiss to Severa’s nose at the girl’s confused expression. “Adorable and prickly. I’m not surprised that others see that and are charmed by you.”
“I can’t tell if that was a compliment or an insult.”
"A compliment." Lucina kisses her nose again. "Little hedgehog."
Severa scoffs, making a face. “Don’t call me that.”
“Would you rather I call you sweetheart? My love? Darling? Light of my--” Severa slaps a hand over Lucina’s mouth, her face flushing red.
“Stop with the nicknames,” she hisses, and Lucina takes hold of the hand on her mouth, pressing kisses to each finger.
“But you look so cute when you blush,” she teases with a smile.
“Lucina I will push you into this pond and leave your body to be found by Seteth in the morning.” Severa threatens, and Lucina laughs, taking hold of Severa’s red cheeks and peppering kisses all over her face.
Severa scrunches up her face in mock annoyance, but even that is soothed away by Lucina's kisses.
"You know…" Severa starts, and Lucina pauses in kissing her beloved’s face. "If you were to call me some sappy nickname… I prefer 'my love',” she mutters the last part so quietly that Lucina can’t help but smile at her embarrassment. “But only when we're alone!"
"Of course, my love," Lucina says with no hesitation, and Severa's blush darkens as Lucina kisses her again, on the lips this time. "I’m very lucky. That you're here with me.”
"Of course you are.” Severa replies, “Where are you going with this?”
"I’ve been thinking about this a lot since we came to Fodlan,” Lucina admits. “And it’s that I would have been incredibly lonely. If you didn’t come with me.”
“You would’ve had Gerome and Inigo if I didn’t.” Severa points out, “You would’ve been fine.”
“Perhaps. But I would've missed you too much.”
“Oh.” Severa clears her throat, embarrassed. “Well- I would’ve felt the same. Probably.” She clears her throat again, “If I enrolled and you didn’t- I wouldn't have liked it here.”
"Oh? But you get along so well with everyone here." Lucina teases, "You fit right in with them. Especially with Hilda and Dorothea.”
"I mean- I guess. They're great but-... it wouldn't be the same without you, ya know? We're-"
"Two halves of the same whole?"
Severa rolls her eyes. “You’re so corny for that. So are your parents.”
“I think what you mean is romantic.” She leans in to kiss her, but Severa puts a hand up to shove her away with playful annoyance, so Lucina decides to just hold her hand.
“What I was going to say is that we’re always together, you and me.” Severa continues, “It would just be… weird if you weren’t with me. We’re inseparable, so… I guess you can say we’re two halves of the same whole.” She cringes, “Gods, I’m never saying that again. That was the only time, got it?”
Lucina laughs, “Of course. Thank you for indulging me.”
“Oh, before I forget-” Severa lets go of Lucina’s hand and reaches into one of her skirt pockets. She pulls out a small blue box about the size of her hand and places it in Lucina’s. “Happy late birthday Lucina.”
“Severa- you know you don’t have to give me anything.”
“I know, but I wanted to,” Severa replies. “I would’ve done it sooner but- I had to save up first. Do you know how hard you are to shop for, though? Took me a while to figure out what to get you.” She swings her feet back and forth. “I know you’re not a fan of fancy stuff like typical nobles. And that you like more practical things.”
“Still, I figured you’d like something like this.” Lucina opens the box and is stunned to see an ornate barrette. Silver in color, decorated with small shimmering blue butterflies and jeweled white daisies.
“It's beautiful.” Lucina takes the barrette out of the box carefully, admiring the craftsmanship and quality.
“Did you buy this in the marketplace?”
“Nope!” Severa grins, “Well, the butterflies I did. For the daisies, I commissioned them.”
“Thank you, Severa. Put it on for me?” She puts the box to the side, and Severa takes the barrette, pinning Lucina's hair back partially with it. “How do I look?”
“Beautiful.” Severa smiles, “I knew it would look good on you. I have great taste.”
Lucina chuckles, “You do. Thank you again for the gift.”
“Well, I had to give you something as nice as what you gave me.” Severa twirls a strand of hair, and Lucina’s eyes stare at the familiar ring on her left ring finger.
My mother’s ring.
“I've been meaning to ask but… I just didn't know how to bring it up.” Severa begins fiddling with the ring. “We've never talked about… ya know, marriage before. Was this your way of proposing to me?”
Marriage wasn't something Lucina had thought of in the past too much. No, it would be more accurate to say Lucina never allowed herself to think about it. The war against the Fell Dragon forced Lucina to push aside any thoughts about her own future, and focus on finding a way to defeat it.
Of course, after they had helped her parents to defeat the Fell Dragon for good, Lucina had started to think about her own future.
She would be delighted to marry Severa, but she doesn't know Severa’s thoughts and feelings on the matter.
“If you want to see it as a proposal,” she settles on saying, and Severa frowns, shooting her an annoyed look.
“So you just gave me your mom's ring and put it on my ring finger just cause?”
“That's not what I meant.” Lucina takes her hand again, admiring how the ring sits on her finger. “I don't want to pressure you into marriage, so I'm leaving the meaning of me gifting the ring to you.”
“What about you?” Severa asks quietly, and Lucina looks up to Severa's brown eyes staring intensely at her. “What do you want?”
“I would like to marry you, Severa.” Lucina tells her, “But again, it is entirely up to you. I don't mind not being married to you. As long as we're together, that's all that matters to me.” And she means it.
Severa closes her eyes, quiet as her head falls forward to rest on Lucina's shoulder.
“Of course I want to marry you.” Severa mumbles, and Lucina's heart swells at the admission. “I’d be an idiot if I didn't want to.”
“Perhaps once we return to Ylisse, we can have a wedding.” Lucina suggests, “And we could invite a few of our friends here at the academy.”
“I want the flashiest wedding possible,” Severa says. “With the tackiest decorations ever.”
“Of course.” Lucina chuckles, “And the biggest wedding cake that can be made?”
“Obviously.” Severa laughs against her. “You know I love you, Lucina. So so much.”
“I know. I love you too, Severa.” Lucina presses a kiss to her head. Severa readjusts herself to face the water, her head still on Lucina’s shoulder, holding their joined hands up. “Do you want to wear my mother's ring?”
“I'd be honored to wear it.” Severa reaches into her skirt pocket, pulling out Cordelia’s ring. A rather precarious place to store it, but Lucina doesn't say anything. Severa reaches for Lucina's left hand and slides it onto her ring finger.
“Ya know, typically it's supposed to go on the right hand before marriage.” Severa comments, “But I don't really care about that kind of ‘tradition’.”
“Neither do I.”
“Heehee. I can't wait to see the look on Inigo's face when he sees your hand.” Severa snickers, “He's gonna have a fit thinking we eloped. He's always wanted to help plan our wedding, ya know.”
“We should tell him and Gerome tomorrow, then.”
“Nah, let's see how long it takes for them to notice,” Severa suggests with a yawn. “Knowing Gerome, he'll notice when he sees you first thing in the morning.”
“Speaking of morning…” Lucina stands up. “We should go to sleep. If we stay out here any longer, we might talk until sunrise.”
“I don’t see anything wrong with that.” Severa stifles another yawn.
“You say that now, but if we’re late to class, Professor Byleth will come knocking on our doors.”
“Arghhhhhh I hate when you’re right.” Severa groans, but lets Lucina help her up anyway. They walk back to Severas' room in comfortable silence, and Lucina kisses her goodnight once they reach it. “Wait-” Severa grabs her hand, “Stay with me tonight?” Lucina smiles, letting Severa lead her to the bed after shutting the door. They discard their boots and outer layers and change into sleeping clothes, with Lucina changing into the extra pair she always leaves in Severa’s room.
She takes the barrette out of her hair and places it on the side table behind the headboard, along with their rings.
She turns to Severa, who unties her hair, brushing her fingers through her red locks.
“Do you want me to braid your hair?” Lucina asks, as Severa usually braids her hair so it doesn’t bother her when she’s sleeping.
“No, leave it.” Severa lies down and grabs Lucina’s hand, pulling her down onto the bed. It’s smaller than Lucina’s, but they manage to fit comfortably as Lucina holds Severa in her arms.
“Night Lucina,” Severa mutters, snuggling into her arms.
uhhhhhhh sorry guys i stopped having motivation to write for my wangxian sleeping beauty au. i definitely abandoned it, BUT IM BACK
ive fallen back into wangxian hell so I started working on the fic again. slowly... i rewrote some of the first 4 chapters, mainly just fixed some things I didn't like so nothing too major
wont be posting those until i finish writing the 5th chapter that has been stuck in wip hell for 5 years hahaha so. look forward to that. cant promise when, but definitely before the summer starts 👍
okay so i have the headcanon that morgan disappeared some time before lucina and the other 2nd gen kids traveled to the past.
this is in morgan's pov, after he's recruited in awakening, and he finds out from several that he disappeared and left them all :)

Morgan knows Lucina is keeping something from him.
He doesn't know what exactly. If he had his memories, he'd probably be able to guess. He can’t outright ask her, because if he asks if she’s not telling him something, she’ll deny it.
When he asks her about their childhood, she answers his questions deftly, with fondness and a soft expression.
When he asks about more recent memories though, such as their time together before they traveled back to the past, she deflects the conversation to something else or is vague- avoiding the topic altogether.
He asks their friends, but receives unhelpful answers, with all of them saying similar things, unwilling to share what they know.
“I got a feeling about what it is, but it ain’t my place to say. ” Brady tells him, as he wraps a minor injury on Morgan’s knee. He had deemed that the injury wasn’t anything too serious and didn’t need the immediate healing of a staff, hence the bandages. “We’ve all gone through our fair share of shit. Everything we’ve been through… If Lucina won’t say, then maybe ya shouldn’t ask.”

“It’s probably about when you- GAH!” Inigo scowls down at Nah, who glares up at him as if she didn’t just jab his ribcage with the ladle in her hand.
“Ignore him.” Nah says, and spoons some soup into Morgan’s bowl. “We all have our secrets, Lucina more than others.” she pauses, “You should ask Gerome. They talk about everything together.”

“What Lucina chooses to share with me is between the two of us,” Gerome answers stiffly, as he tends to his wyvern Minerva. “I will not reveal her secrets.” Morgan frowns, almost pouting, and Gerome takes one look at him before he sighs, “If you must know, go and bother Severa about it, but understand this Morgan- Severa’s answer will not be what you’re looking for, nor will it be a kind one.”
So, Morgan approaches Severa, when she’s training alone, a little ways away from the camp, and asks her, why Lucina avoids talking about certain parts of their life, and what it is Lucina is keeping from him.
“Look, Morgan.” Severa sighs, “I’m not telling you because you deserve to know. I’m telling you because Lucina sure as hell isn’t going to tell you, and if Gerome told you to ask me, then he thinks this is important for you to know.”
“What Lucina won’t tell you… It happened almost a year before we traveled to the past I think. She didn’t tell me all the details of that night, but… you guys were spending time together and when she was asleep you just… left. In the middle of the night, you left Ylisstol.”
“I-” he’s… shocked, honestly. He thought Lucina’s reluctance to tell him of their more recent past was for a different reason. That, he and Lucina had argued and separated on less than pleasant terms when they traveled to the past. “I left?”
“You disappeared and left a note for Lucina, yes.”
“What-” Morgan swallows thickly, hands fiddling with the tome in his hands. “What did it say?” up until this point of their conversion, Severa has refused to look at him, staring off into the distance, her voice stilted, expression blank, not betraying any emotion on her face.
“You told her you were going to find your mom. That you didn’t know when you’d come back.”
“I- I’m sorry.” Morgan apologizes, and it’s more of an automatic response than a genuine one, because he doesn’t know what to say.
What else can he say?
His words seem to strike a nerve, and Severa’s blank expression breaks, anger taking over.
“She spent months looking for you.” she snaps, and Morgan flinches. “Did you even think about how she felt when you left!? You-” Severa closes her eyes for a moment, gathering her thoughts. Morgan doesn’t miss the way she grips her sword, and the thought that she’s restraining herself from running him through with her sword crosses his mind briefly. Severa opens her eyes and levels him with a… certain look. Her brown eyes contain a storm of fury, and Morgan has the feeling that this isn’t his first time being on the receiving end of her rage.
“You, of all people knew how ragged the war was running her. How- she was overworking herself. How- how she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders but you still-!” her voice falters, and she turns away quickly, taking a few deep breaths. When she turns back around, her eyes are watery.
Morgan feels the guilt and shame well up inside him. Guilt, for his actions in the past, though he can’t remember them, and shame, that he made Severa of all people cry. From the time he’s spent getting to know all his friends again, he knows Severa isn’t one to cry so easily.
“Severa-”
“Sorry.” she grumbles, “I shouldn’t yell at you when you can’t even remember anything.” her words, while correct, manage to sting. She wipes away the wetness from her eyes with the back of her hand and sighs, sniffling. “Lucina’s gonna hate me when she finds out I told you.”
“Luci could never hate you,” Morgan says firmly, so sure of his own words.
“It’d be easier if she did,” Severa mutters, so quiet that Morgan almost doesn’t hear her. He wants to ask, but decides against it, not wanting to open up that can of worms.
Morgan is probably the last person Severa would want to talk to about her personal feelings anyway.
“I- thanks for telling me, Severa,” Morgan says awkwardly. “And- I really am sorry.”
“I should be the one apologizing. For yelling at you and shit.” Severa sighs, “Whatever. It’s in the past, and you don’t even have your memories so there’s no point in me staying mad at you for it.” she sheathes her sword, “I need to cool off. I’ll see ya at dinner.” and she walks back to camp, leaving Morgan to his thoughts.

When they arrive at the ruins in Northeastern Ferox, in search of Naga’s Tear, they aren’t expecting it to be full of Risen.
“I suppose we're just gonna have to earn this treasure the old-fashioned way,”
Lucina sighs, recalling her father’s words. If only things were that simple.
Their group splits off into two different parts of the ruins. Her parents and a few of the Shepherds take to the west side of the ruins. Lucina, along with Owain, Gerome, Severa, Inigo, and Kjelle go along the east side.
Lucina and her group enter a large room, and on the other side, atop a flight of stairs, she sees a figure firing spells off at a Risen general. Their coat is all too similar to her mother’s, and when they shoot off a blast of wind, sending the Risen into the wall, their hood is blown off, revealing familiar short blue hair, brown eyes, and a triumphant smile.
Next to her, Severa gasps. “Is that-?!”
“Cover me!” Lucina shouts, and she fights her way through the group of Risen occupying the room, with her friends making sure she isn’t attacked from behind.
She ends up only a few feet away from the bottom of the stairs, Falchion severing a Risen’s head from its body when she looks up frantically at the boy.
Nine, covered in leaves and dirt, trudging mud into the study, a worm wiggling in his hands. “I found a worm Luci! I- hey, why are you hiding behind Father?”
Thirteen, face smudged with soot, smelling of smoke and firewood. “Hey Luci, hypothetically speaking, how mad would you be if I accidentally set all the training dummies on fire?”
Fifteen, eyes sullen, a faraway look in his eyes, on their mother’s birthday. “Lucina do you think… is it possible she might be-”
“...They’re gone, Morgan.”
“Morgan!?”
At the shout of the name, Morgan turns his head to look at her, his face twisting into confusion when they lock eyes.
He looks just like how she remembers him.
A mix of emotions fills her. Relief, that he’s alive, then anger. Anger that he disappeared without a goodbye, that he never once let her know, in the years he was gone, that he was still alive.
Then the realization that he’s fighting off a Risen general by himself hits her.
Idiot!
“You-” She starts, but she’s cut off when the Risen General roars behind Morgan. Three more Risen stand in Lucina’s way, and she glances behind herself. Her friends have picked off the rest of the Risen, and they continue to make quick work of the remaining three.
She hears Morgan yell out two spells in succession, and a flash of lightning followed by an explosion reverberates throughout the chamber. She looks up in time to see Morgan thrown back by the explosion, and Lucina dashes forward, dropping Falchion as she rushes up the stairs. She manages to catch Morgan halfway, and they’re sent flying, tumbling down the staircase.
Her body aches from the fall, and she manages to catch her breath. Gerome helps her stand up, handing Falchion to her, which she takes.
“Is everyone okay?” Lucina asks, and they all answer varying degrees of ‘yes’. She wipes the blood on Falchion with her cape and sheathes the sword. “Morgan?” she reaches a hand out, and he stares at her, brow furrowed, before deciding to accept her hand, helping him onto his feet.
“I’m okay. Err… thanks,” he says awkwardly.
“Morgan, how did you get here?” she asks, “You disappeared and I thought-” I thought you were dead. She bites back the words. “Where have you been?”
“I-” Morgan hesitates, “Sorry I don’t- Who are you?”
Lucina stares at him in disbelief. “Morgan if this is your way of joking-”
“I’m sorry, I really don’t know who any of you are.” Morgan shakes his head. “I woke up… sprawled in a field, and wandered here. I can’t recall anything before that. The only memories I have are of my mother.”
Lucina feels her blood run cold. She wishes this was a cruel joke. Morgan had disappeared nearly half a year before Lucina and their friends had traveled to the past, making it almost three years since she’s last seen him.
But she knows Morgan. Knows that he wouldn’t play such a cruel joke on her and that his words and expressions are honest, not displaying a hint of malice or trickery.
What other choice does she have but to believe him?
“So you know who Robin is?”
“Yes, I know her! She’s my mother!” he smiles, and Lucina’s heart aches.
“Morgan- this may be hard to believe, but I need you to stay calm and listen to me.” there isn’t a delicate way for her to tell him when he seems to have amnesia, so she decides to be blunt. “I’m your older sister, Lucina, and our mother is Robin. Like me and our friends here, you come from the future.”
“...What?! But I... The future?!” he stares at her in bewilderment, “Is... Is that why I have no memory? But wait, I remember Mother. So why don't I remember you?”
“I wish I knew the answer to that.” she says, “Do you remember our father, Chrom?”
“No, nothing like that.”
“Well… at least you remember Mother.” she sighs, “Maybe you’ll remember something when you meet her and Father. You should come with us till then. I don’t want you pulling another stunt like you just did with that Risen general.”
“Heh.” despite the strange circumstances, Morgan laughs easily. “Thank you, Lucina. Just lead the way.”

"Hey Luci!" The door to the study bursts open, and Lucina looks up to see Morgan. She doesn’t even get a chance to greet him or ask him why he’s here (when he’s supposed to be in a meeting with their Mother) before he runs over to her excitedly. "I got something to show you." He turns around, fiddling with something, and when he turns back to face her, it's like she's looking into a mirror.
A familiar blue mask, reminiscent of a butterfly covers his face.
"Where did you-?"
"Gerome gave it to me. He said he didn't need it anymore." He grins, "Don't I look like a masked vigilante?”
“You do.” With the mask on, he looks just as Lucina did when she disguised herself under the alias ‘Marth’. Of course, Morgan doesn’t know about ‘Marth’, and has never gotten the chance to meet him. If he had, he would have known instantly that it was her, and probably have teased her for it. “Did… Gerome tell you why he had that mask?”
“No, I just assumed it was an extra he had lying around and never used,” Morgan says with a shrug, taking off the mask. “But you know… I think this mask would look good on you.”
“...Me?”
“Yeah.” Morgan nods his head enthusiastically. “I bet you would look really cool if you wore it!” he shoves the mask in front of her face, and she leans back, lest he somehow pokes her eyes out with it. “Try it on!”
“I-”
“Come on Luci! Pleaseeeeeee?” he pleads, and Lucina relents. She puts it on at his insistence. It’s… strange, how familiar and comforting it feels to be wearing it again.
“Wow!! Lucina, you look so cool with the mask on!” Morgan exclaims, “I bet if you wore this all the time you’d be super popular!”
“I… do not want that to happen,” she’s lucky that when she first wore it, people left her alone. She wouldn’t be able to handle it if she had a gaggle of admirers following after her like she heard happened to Gerome some time ago. She takes off the mask and hands it back to Morgan.
“Oh, by the way, Mother told me about ‘Marth’.”
“Ah… did she…?”
Morgan laughs at her sudden awkwardness. “Who knew you’d become a masked hero like in the books we read as kids?”
“Well, it had been a last-minute decision,” Lucina huffs, a little embarrassed.
“I think it’s pretty cool that you did that though. But then again, everything you do is cool.”
“Now you’re just saying that.” Lucina shakes her head, “But… thank you. What do you plan on doing with the mask?”
“I think I’ll wear it around for funsies.” Morgan grins, “See if anyone recognizes me or mistakes me for you. Or better yet-“ he puts the mask back on, and picks up Falchion from where it’s propped against the desk “See what I can get away with doing.” he swings the sword, knocking over a stack of books in the process, and Lucina sighs.

Ever since they were little, Morgan has always been spoiled by Lucina. Even now, Lucina allows him to try out any experiments he wants, as well as any questionable ideas and tactics he has. She lets him skip the meetings with the council, and lets him (sometimes) get away with accidentally setting things on fire, despite the scolding he gets from their aunts and Frederick.

Morgan has been lying in bed for an hour, unable to fall asleep. There’s too much noise in his mind, tactics and ideas flying around, making him toss and turn.
I wonder if Lucina’s still up. His bedside clock reads a little past one. The likelihood of Lucina still being up is pretty high, but there’s always the possibility she decided to turn in early for the night.
He untangles himself from the warmth of his blankets and leaves his bedroom. He doesn’t run into any guards as he walks through the palace (weird, he’ll have to bring that up to someone tomorrow), and his feet lead the way.
The quiet of the palace at night always made him uneasy as a child, and being older (fourteen) didn’t change that. He’s used to the noise and chaoticness that came with maneuvering through the halls and weaving in between staff and nobles during the day.
At night, it always felt like there was something lurking in every shadow, waiting for the opportune moment to strike him.
He stops in front of Lucina’s room and knocks on the door. He hears the shuffling of papers and the scrape of a chair. Lucina opens the door, and there isn’t a hint of surprise on her face when she sees him.
“I wondered who would be knocking at my door so late at night.” she says, “Is something wrong?”
"Can I sleep in your room?"
"Morgan, you're not a child." is what she says, but she lets him in anyways. Morgan throws himself onto her bed, kicking his slippers off in the process, and proceeds to bury himself under the heavy winter blankets.
“You’re not sleeping?” he asks, when she goes to her desk instead of coming to the bed.
“I need to make some revisions to a couple of documents first.”
“It’s bedtime,” he says with a frown. “Do you need those done before the morning meeting?”
“Hm, I need them done before the end of the week.” Lucina muses, “It’s always better to get them done early and out of the way.”
“What a workaholic,” Morgan complains, and tosses a pillow at her, hitting his sister in the face. “I’m telling Aunt Lissa and Aunt Maribelle that you were up working all night again.” he threatens, and Lucina winces.
“Don’t- do that. They already have enough to worry about.” Morgan glares at her, and she sighs, relenting. She blows out the candles on the desk, and the room is engulfed in darkness, save for the moonlight coming from the windows and balcony doors. Lucina shuffles to the other side of the bed, and slides under the blankets.
Morgan grins, “Goodnight Luci!”
A small smile finds its way onto her lips. “Goodnight Morgan.”

"Gerome, Severa, Kjelle, Inigo, and Nah with me," Lucina says, “Brady and Laurent will stay here at camp, and I want Yarne and Morgan to head back to the castle to update Owain and the others of the situation.”
"I'm not going back to the castle."
"Morgan-"
“If you won’t let me go with you, at least let me be here to greet you when you come back.”
“...Alright.”
That had been an hour ago. Lucina and less than half the soldiers at the camp left to assist a village plagued by Risen, because Lucina always helps those in need.
Morgan paces back and forth in the supply tent. He’s helping Brady go through their inventory and record how much of what they have left in stock and if they need to get more supplies. Well, he’s supposed to be helping Brady, but Morgan is feeling too restless to do that.
"Yeesh. Stop pacing so much. You're even making me feel uneasy." Brady complains.
"I just feel so useless." Morgan grumbles, "The others are fighting and I'm just sitting at camp waiting for them to come back."
"And what does that make me and Laurent? Chopped liver?”
“I didn’t mean-”
“Just sit your butt down and help me organize our inventory.” Brady motions him over, and Morgan obeys with some reluctance. agitated by how unconcerned Brady seems to be.
“What if it’s an ambush? What if the Grimleal-”
“Stop thinking about all these what-ifs.” Brady snaps, “I’m worried bout them too, but worrying ain't gonna do nothing for them.”
Morgan knows Brady’s right, that Morgan worrying isn’t going to do anything, so he tries to calm his thoughts. He focuses on helping Brady with inventory, fiddling with the record book and quill in his hands.
Another hour passes, and a horn is sounded, signifying Lucina's return. Morgan stands up quickly, knocking over the inkwell and spilling ink all over the floor. He ignores Brady’s annoyance, and rushes out of the supply tent, just in time to see Nah landing in the middle of the camp. She is quick to detransform, her face panicked, voice loud as she shouts for Brady. Minerva lands beside her, with Gerome and Severa and-
His heart drops to his stomach.
Lucina sits in between Gerome and Severa, leaning against the redhead, eyes closed, face a deathly shade of white. Gerome dismounts Minerva, already taking Lucina in his arms from Severa when Morgan gets to them.
"What happened?!" Blood seeps through Lucina's clothes from a wound cutting across her chest and through her armor.
"Outta the way!" Morgan hears Brady, who comes up from behind, pushing him to the side. He quickly accesses Lucina, before barking orders at Gerome to get her to the medical tent.
Morgan hurries after Gerome and Brady to the medical tent, where Gerome sets Lucina down on one of the cots, and strips her of her armor to give Brady better access to her injuries. Brady is quick to get to work, staff in hand as he begins repeating a mantra of healing spells, a trail of white magic escaping from his free hand as it hovers over Lucina and into her wounds.
"Brady her arm-" Morgan chokes out. Lucina's right arm, her sword arm, is broken, bent at an unnatural angle. He notices another injury on Lucina's shoulder too, a deep gash cutting through her clothes that he can see where her skin is cut.
He feels like he’s going to throw up.
The more he looks at Lucina, the more injuries he starts to notice, and the more he begins to spiral into a jumble of anxiety-ridden thoughts.
What if she already lost too much blood?
What if Gerome brought her back too late?
What if she-
"Morgan I need ya to leave." Brady’s voice breaks through his distress, and Morgan snaps his attention back to the blond.
“I’m not-”
“You’re hovering and you’re getting antsy.” Brady points out, not taking his eyes off Lucina. “I can’t concentrate if I have to worry about you having an anxiety attack while you watch me. Gerome, take him outside.”
Gerome grabs at his arm, and Morgan doesn’t resist as his friend leads him out of the medical tent. Morgan shakes off his friend’s hand and sets himself down on a wooden crate outside the tent, refusing to move. Gerome leaves him there, walking away to (Morgan assumes) tend to his wyvern. Laurent arrives, nodding to Morgan in greeting before he enters the tent to assist with healing.
Over the course of an hour (maybe two, Morgan isn’t keeping track of time), the rest of his friends and the soldiers that had gone with Lucina filter through.
Kjelle with a fractured leg, Severa with broken ribs, Inigo with a concussion, and Gerome and Nah with arrows lodged in them. They all have more injuries on their bodies, but none so in a state as bad as Lucina's.
“Hey.” a bowl of soup is shoved into his view, and he lifts his head to see Nah in front of him. “Here.”
“I don’t want any,” he says, his stomach still in knots as he waits for Brady to emerge from the tent.
“And I’m not asking.” the Manakete pushes the bowl into his hands. “You need to eat.” She sits down next to him, staring at him until her gaze becomes almost unbearable, and he eats a few spoonfuls of soup to get her to stop staring at him.
The soup is bland and watery, the carrots undercooked, the meat tough, and the potatoes turned into mush. He forces himself to consume at least half of it, to alleviate the concern on Nah’s face.
They’re both quiet, and Morgan notices Nah’s shoulders and right arm are wrapped in bandages.
“How’s your-” he motions with a hand.
“Better with Laurent’s help,” she answers. “He said I should be fine in a day or two. Just needs to rest.”
“That’s good.” they’re silent again. Normally, Morgan would be carrying the conversation, but right now…
“Lucina will be alright.” Nah speaks suddenly, “She won’t let herself get killed by something like that.”
“What… did happen?”
“There wasn’t a lot of Risen at first.” Nah explains, “But then more and more started showing up, and we found out there was a dark mage. Lucina was their target and-... well, you get the picture.”
A dark mage…
Brady emerges from the tent, and Morgan bolts up to his feet, uncaring about the bowl of soup spilling to the ground.
“Brady- Lucina- is she-?”
“She’s doing fine.” Brady answers, “You can stop worrying. She’s awake.” that’s all Morgan needs to hear, and he pushes past Brady and enters the tent. It’s almost empty by now, with only a few healers and soldiers still inside.
He sees Lucina, color returned to her face, sitting upright in the cot, with Gerome standing by her bedside. Like Nah, the two of them have their injuries wrapped in bandages. She turns her head, and when she sees him, her gaze softens.
Morgan walks over to her, and all but collapses at her side. Fear and relief overwhelm him, and he starts to cry. Lucina doesn’t say anything, reaching over to pull him into a hug, despite her injuries, to comfort him.
