New Walt feels a lot like my actual home and, funnily enough, I kind of miss all the grass and cobblestone and stuff! Funny how that stuff works. I heard you got back on the saddle over the summer and wanted to say congratulations! I knew you would. 

Gosh, that’s too bad! Being here was such a nice change of pace for you; I’m sure you’ll find a spot to go for some fresh air when you need to clear your head eventually, though. Or you can try mine; I really do want to keep that promise not to hog it constantly! And thank you so much, Flynn, that’s so sweet of you to think of me. It’s not the same, but it feels really nice to be able to do what I love most again. I’m so grateful I had people there to help me through it.

New Walt is completely dazzling, and I’m surprised by how much I actually love the bigger city vibe we have here now! Still, I’m most grateful for the existence of the lake house for when I need to get more of a taste of home. I have a feeling I’m going to spend a lot of time there this year, so consider this my apology to y’all in advance if I accidentally end up hogging it a bit!

Zeb: Nature's the most beautiful! Well, cept for you and Remy, but you two are kinda part of nature so that works still! Thanks! You'd think being told you had eyes like a cow was a compliment, right?

Zeb: Easy to be sweet cause I'm sweet on you! Kinda wish it was still summer honestly like its nice to be back at school with everyone else but it kinda felt like we had our lil world, huh? I never knew lovin horses would be useful for more than just my soul lol its awesome! Do you wanna try to brainstorm excuses to see Remy? It makes my heart sad to think of you two missing each other too much.

Iris: You have to include yourself on that list of most beautiful people, too, though! And of course! Well, probably. They have such big and earnest eyes, although sometimes I feel like all you can really see in them is either simple confusion, or poor terror, with not much in between. Do you think cows appreciate how wonderful the world can be like we do?

Iris: I did really like our little world! But maybe that's just selfish of me. We all have our own lives here and I know that you guys have pretty great ones, I'd never want to do anything to get in the way of that again. We could! I feel like all of mine are 'study group' and 'working on a class project,' but non-school related ones would be nice.

Remy: Well that's good, I suppose. It's probably all good then. And if it's not I can probably figure out some kind of PDA with Zeb that wouldn't make anyone suspect he'd ever look elsewhere.

Iris: Not my favorite term of endearment but I guess I can understand where the idea came from now at least! I'd never defile the horses, though! That's so gross for them and I don't even think it would make a centaur.

Iris: That shouldn't be too hard. In case I haven't reminded you lately, you're stunningly beautiful. It's very hard to look away 😻

Zeb: Also hope you're doing good! I know I just saw you but I miss you again!

Iris: Oooh, definitely like a flower! No offense to eyes but nature is just so beautiful.

Iris: You're the sweetest! I miss you too, it's hard to go from spending most of the summer around you guys all the time back to school. At least you're easier to see than Remy! Thanks for loving horses enough to not be suspicious :-p

Remy: Did anyone SEE you two? Unless you both chose that moment to scream each other's names or something like freaks. I doubt anyone's going to think either of you are cheaters.

Iris: I mean, I didn't SEE anyone see us. Except for Banjo, but he's a horse! Which is a whole different problem but I don't think he's too traumatized, I doubt he understood what was going on.

Iris: The screaming definitely didn't happen, though! I've gotten good at being quiet, it makes it way easier to keep things private.

Look, I never chose the horse life – the horse life chose me. I’m sure if I did decide to stop volunteering I’d miss them and all, but it’s about to finally be my senior year. I gotta focus on me. And maybe that means going at least once a week to make sure everything’s going smoothly. How’s your uh…pelvis, by the way? 

That’s true, I guess it’s not fair to expect people to use gifts just because they’re given them. They have to chase what makes them happy and do what’s right for them, even if it’s not their god-given path. If you ever want to see them but really can’t be bothered to make the trek, though, I could always walk them to you. Or ride them -- my pelvis finally healed enough that I can do some riding again! Nothing like what I was doing before, but I can walk, and trot as long as I’m posting and not trying to do a seated trot.

what did you do this summer?

I sat around doing nothing, letting all my physical therapy go to waste and letting the condition of my pelvis get worse and worse. I stayed far away from horses and made no attempt to start riding again, not even baby steps like climbing on and going for a slow walk. I stayed at home by myself and didn’t make any new connections with any of our classmates. I just thought dark and gloomy thoughts and felt sorry for myself all summer long! Being miserable and pessimistic is just the greatest.

Thoughts on Flynn getting back together with Bobbie?

I think it’s a great idea. Violence is always justified! Thinking you own someone just because they’re your ex-boyfriend and guilting them for moving on with their life as if it has anything to do with you isn’t at all manipulative! It’s a super healthy dynamic they have going on and he definitely couldn’t do any better than dating inside of his codependent web of bullies! I mean friends!

So you mean to tell me that they put the stables on a completely secluded part of town, thus making it even more of a ridiculous effort to go work with the horses? I don’t know, man…maybe this is when I finally give up horse whispering. 

You don’t think they’re worth the effort? If I could horse whisper I’d make sure they knew that! But I don’t have your same talents, so I’ll just treat them the way I always do instead. I kind of like having a quiet place to go to get away from it all, though; Walt’s so different now, the big city vibe can get overwhelming. It just makes the barn even more of a safe haven than ever.
