The stylus moves almost frantically as he records each movement, noise and action. Rushed handwriting crude but punctuated by various, possibly trivial, details.
Understandably she seems a bit miffed to wake up in a cage.
Membrane’s concealed expression is one of amusement, appearing to remain as stoic as ever behind the shield of bulletproof glass. Could it withstand whatever she had in that device on her back? He’d wanted to have it removed, examined as she slept. But, best not to get carried away.
Least his wings of wax begin to melt too soon.
He had to pace himself with this one. Too valuable to risk indulging his rampant destructive curiosity.
The statement catches him off guard and he barks out a laugh. Making note of that. Makes sense, she was on Earth and he or his company were plastered all over a variety of places. One of which being his presence on TV. Shows, interviews, documentaries.
He had quite a prevalent media presence.
“I am.” He throws up his brows. “How acute of you to notice!”
She knows English, great. That will make this much easier. Suppose he should make a good first impression.
“I am Professor Membrane, of Membrane Labs. Of which you are currently residing in our basement, as I’m sure you’d already concluded.” He taps the pen against the tablet. Fidgety. “Welcome to planet Earth! Though according to my people, you’ve been here for a while. Didn’t really do a good job at hiding.”
“I take it you weren’t all too concerned with being discovered?” Membrane grins, “Lucky enough, I found you before the American government did. So we don’t have to worry about any of their meddling.”
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.”
The irken huffed, finding his friendliness more patronizing than it should be. She didn't offer her name back. There was a possibility that he already knew and she wanted to find out how much information he’s already collected.
Her eyes narrowed into slits, partly because she was tired and angry, but also to shield them from overbearing lights.
"Why should I need to worry?" Tenn held up her hand for Membrane to see. Her thumb tucked against the palm while her other two fingers stood straight and spaced apart to form a symbol all humans were familiar with. "I come in peace."
It wasn't a truth nor a lie. She came here to avoid The Tallest and give up the invader lifestyle. There were no plans to conquer earth but Tenn also had no qualms if she had to kill any natives. Human enslavement could have made things easier for herself in the long haul, she was specifically trained in that area, but she was too mentally fatigued to put in the energy and commitment.
"If its secrets of the universe you wanted, you could have asked nicely without all -" she flicked her wrist indicating the cage, "- this." Her arm drew back to tuck under her body along with all the other limbs, much like a cat. She felt the need to keep everything close and protected. "I'm more partial to bribery if I'm to be honest. The better the reward, the more willing I am to cooperate."
