#PrettyHeiressDiaries:
My Doll Archetypes ❤︎︎
As many of you may know, one of my fave/the best femininity blogs on this platform, @thevirgodoll, has recently curated what she believes to be the 11 Doll Archetypes. Aside from reading each and every entry there is, in order to figure out what archetype(s) I aligned with, I took the Doll Personality Quiz. I took this quiz a total of 9 times! That’s how much I identified with multiple choices. 🎀
I ended up getting the same four results:
The Vixen Doll (3x), The Matriarch Doll(2x), The Socialite Doll (3x) and The Barbie Doll (1x)
The Vixen Doll
The Doll archetype I got first was “The Vixen Doll.” Rihanna is the face of this archetype via her “Good Girl Gone Bad” and “Unapologetic” branding. Coined the “bad girl,” @thevirgodoll notates the Vixen archetype as someone that simply does not care yet everything she does captures attention.
Originally I didn’t really agree with this archetype, so I took the quiz again. I got the result twice more. So I looked further into the Vixen traits and was delightfully surprised to see how aligned I am with this archetype. The Vixen Doll name wasn’t by mistake either, as Rihanna’s branding and aesthetic is in harmony with the video vixens of the 90s/00s. And if you know me, you know this is a very on par archetype for me. Off you’ve kept up with me EVER you know some of my strongest inspo ever is video vixens. Such an alluring, sexy and mystical career to have on the surface.
Vixen Traits I Identify With:
undeniable sex appeal
extreme confidence and sense of self
magnetic + mysterious aura
self advocacy
a desire to be different
seduction and allure
The Socialite Doll
The second most recurring (3x) result I got was “The Socialite Doll”. The face for this archetype is Kim Kardashian. I’ve been very public with my admiration for her, dubbing her as my “problematic fav.” I’ve always seen her as an extremely girly figure in pop culture and upon finding out she’s a libra as well, I found her very enthralling. She maintains a certain mix of girly, expensive, and exclusivity that I find so influential.
If you know me from any of my other blogs/socials, you may know I’ve built a decent following based purely on documenting my self development, self care rituals, and aesthetic. A huge facet of The Socialite Doll archetype is their ability to market and influence their niche, and the masses to a certain degree. The Socialite also has a perpetual princess sickness. From the IG models, to WAGS, and Basketball Wives; these women are spoiled and appear to have everything the average girly girl would ever need and want. Also, I’m very much in tune with my “inner teenager” as @thevirgodoll puts it, and this makes itself evident to others via my hobbies and forms of expression. While I enjoy my time in the public eye, contrary to the Socialite, I don’t live for the opinions of others. I’m often seen as the contrarian in the groups I occupy and have many times been on the outs of the popular opinion.
Socialite Traits I Identify With:
attention capturing and curiosity inducing to strangers
shying away from the development of deep connections
love to consume, as i have a long list of the “collections” i own
obsession with beauty and style
strong ability to brand and market myself
highly sensitive
entrepreneurship
The Matriarch Doll
So many women in showbiz and the entertainment industry that I admire align with The Matriarch Doll archetype. @thevirgodoll uses examples such as Clair Huxtable, Joan from Girlfriends, and many off duty supermodels. The Matriarch has an authoritative and controlling nature. They strive for the best for themselves and those they love. They’re also extremely poised and beautiful. If you look at the aesthetic inspo she uses for this archetype, you’ll get a very “rich housewife hot mom” vibe. While I’m not sure if I’ll ever actually want to be married with children, the lifestyle has always been something I want and work towards in my youth.
Whew! This one was NOT a surprise to me. I’ve been told that I have a very motherly heart and a maternal instinct. I’ve even been told that this aids in my feminine allure to other people (mostly men). I’ve been known to give very straight forward advice that doesn’t feel too crass and harsh, but is most likely what a person needs to hear, like a mother. I’m not very religious but I dislike people that stand for nothing, people that move without a moral compass, and just bad people generally.
Matriarch Doll Traits I Identify With:
attracts people who need emotional support
controlling and a slight superiority complex
cold once/when detached
classy and poised
love classic feminine aesthetics (press and curls, french tips, little black dresses, etc)
takes no bs or disrespect without consequence
The Barbie Doll
For this archetype @thevirgodoll chooses the barbie herself, Nicki Minaj, as the case study. The Barbie is known to be “people person” of the dolls. It’s no secret that Nicki is one of my biggest influences and favorite artists ever. This business mogul is the spitting image of hyperfemininity and dynamic abilities/traits.
Now let’s look at the obvious. Anyone with two eyes can see just how influenced I am by both Nicki Minaj and the Barbie brand. I love pink, fashion, beauty and dolls. As I said before I’m ultrafeminine and have always identified as such. Also, I’ve always felt a strong star quality about myself. Since a small child. I guess one could say I have a big ego. I’ve literally always known I was the shit. I’m not even talking about looks, but my heart has always been huge, always an A student (gifted programs, spelling bee wins, deans/principals lists), always seen as the “good kid”. When you grow up being told how special and great you are it definitely affects your adult self. Now I strive to feel as proud of myself as my loved ones were of me growing up and sometimes this pursuit ends well (other times it causes anxiety and a fear of failure).
Getting the Barbie archetype more than once wasn’t shocking on the surface hence me being the ultimate girly girl (princess of the family, hyper feminine, etc.) However, reading what lies below the surface was demystifying at the least. @thevirgodoll explains that the Barbie doll often a has a secure exterior but is extremely soft on the inside. Though I’ve learned to not take things personally, at my core I have and always will be a sensitive soul. My old self would often times be stuck between wanting to make those I love happy and having an extreme “IDGAF” attitude. However I’ve definitely become much less apt to care about what others think of me and how I live. This is my (moment 4) life to live. I’ve developed a strong backbone and I’m learning to self regulate my emotions. Barbz have seen Nicki go through this as well.
Barbie Doll Traits I Identify With
“glamour and charm”
multifaceted and focused on more than one career path
highly sensitive
an urge to protect my closest loved ones
emotionally explosive
pink & sweet ♡
