Ethan couldn’t hold back a groan as he walked into the kitchen, the smell of burnt cake making him what to run for the door. “Please tell me you didn’t do what i think you did.”
“I SAID GET UP!”
Stephanie pulled the covers to the ground, then pushed him up. “Up, up! You stink and who knows when was the last time you had something to eat.”
Ethan groaned, trying to grab his sheets back but letting them go in favor of turning away from her and burying his face into his pillow as he curled in on himself.
“Fuck off.”
【 @irrelevant-son 】
“Get up. Get up and go straight for the shower.”
Ethan let out a small groan, squeezing his eyes shut tighter as he ignored the other and continued to try to sleep off his hang over.
“Ethan! That’s such a rude thing to say about your favorite aunt.” Cue the dramatically sarcastic tone.
“Yes but you are only my favorite aunt by default so.”
【 @irrelevant-son LIKED ✖ FOR A STARTER 】
“What did you just call me?!”
“Well yeah, you’re late. What the hell was taking you so long?”
@gothamsspookyrayofhope
“You know that is Illegal-” Ethan paused, narrowing his eyes at the other before sighing and rolling them. “Of course you do. Probably why you’re doing it, of course.”
Boy, had she fucked up right there. Steph couldn’t blame him, her sudden outburst of anger were pretty scary, especially for those experiencing them for the first time. Guilt was biting at her, weighing her shoulders and making it harder to even think of the right thing to say.
But when she saw him pick his things, Steph move to interject him, barely catching him by the wrist.
“Wait, Eth, no. You don’t have to. Don’t leave. I’m sorry about that—that was dumb. But don’t leave…”
Ethan looked down at her hand on his wrist before glancing up at her. He sighed, seeing the guilt and regret play across her features. He pulled his wrist away as he shook his head and looked back down as he grabbed his bag.
He cursed himself for getting so worked up so easily, and being to hardheaded to admit it.
“Its getting late i should be heading home anyways. You know Dani worries when i’m out late.”
“No, I’m supposed to be the nicer one here. Which I am.”
“Uh huh. Yeah, i’m not convinced. I’m pretty sure you are secretly evil.”
Nat blared the alarm once more before setting her megaphone down. She moved to the end of the bed, gripping the mattress high enough to lift his feet.
“Do you really want to find out if I can flip this over, or are gonna get up and put some sweats?”
Ethan groaned, feeling the bed lift up slightly. He had no doubt that she could, and would flip the bed if he didn’t get up. He sighed as he sat up, giving he a glare.
“I really, really don’t like you right now.”
The moment those words left her mouth, she felt the guilt wash over her from head to toe. His silence only accentuated her feelings of guilt, and maybe a tinge of embarrassment.
“Sorry… I-I didn’t mean to blow up like that… This wasn’t stupid, at all, don’t think that. It’s just—” she sighed, dropped her gaze. “I’m sorry, Ethan.”
Ethan shorted as he shook his head, moving to grab his things. He knew it was only a matter of time before his ‘aunt’ saw what is parents did and decide he wasn’t worth her time.
“Whatever, doesn’t matter. I’m tired and going home.“
“Oh, like you’re surprised at all!”
“Well you are supposed to be the nice one here.”
“Alright—if that’s how it’s going to be…”
Nat turned on her heel and went to the other room. As promised, she came back with a megaphone in hand, beeping the integrated alarm before she shouted.
“GET UP OR I FLIP THE MATTRESS!!”
Ethan had just began to to drift off again when he was suddenly woken up by the infuriating sound of a megaphone.
“Jesus fucking christ”
“...ughhh.”
“You’re mean and i don’t like you go away.”
“Just for once—for once in your life—shut the hell up and listen to me, Ethan!”
Ethan blinked at her in shocked silence, taken aback by the sudden outburst. After a moment he scowled, shaking his head as he turned away. “This was stupid, and useless. No point in any of this.”
gothamslittlerayofhope:
“Forever and ever.”
“God damnit.”
She petted his head. “Sure thing, son.”
He looked at her cautiously as he slowly took another bite of his ice cream. “You’re gonna hold this against me aren’t you.”
“Maybe if you paid attention instead of whining and complaining you’d be able to listen better.”
“I was paying attention, you are just terrible at explaining things.”
“Don’t make me bring out the megaphone, young man.”
Ethan let out a long groan in response and flopped back down, ignoring her her warning.
