One of my family members set up a GoFundMe for Elijah to help him get a wheelchair. Insurance refuses to buy him one since he’s getting therapy and I don’t have that kind of money on hand to buy him it myself.
A little bit about Elijah, he has Spina Bifida that caused his nerves to be damaged completely from the waist down. He has no feeling in his legs and is only capable of walking a few steps with a walker at a time, and that is for indoor use. We’ve been working with therapy for almost two years now to help him get stronger, and while we would love for him to be able to walk, he will always mainly be wheelchair bound.
Elijah is one of the sweetest and most determined little boy I’ve ever known, and it breaks my heart when he looks at other children when going out and walking around while he is confined to a stroller. A wheelchair would give him the ability to have his own independence that children his age have with working legs.
