is there any advice anyone could offer me about how to convince your parents that you can't attend school? not a "one day fake sick" thing, a "until my doctor visit where they can give me things to decrease this intense pain/ a mobility aid to make moving around easier, it's just suffering and my grades may be good but everything hurts and i cant do it everyday" i havent been direct and maybe that's what i should do, but i just?? im in pain constantly and school makes everything so much worse.
Honestly, I donĀ“t know but Iāll leave this open for others with more experience to answer.
My addition is that I know that in some countries thereās aĀ ādisability departmentā at schools but I donāt know if that would work.Ā
I would emphasize in how your grades are not worth decreasing your quality of life or deteriorating your health.Ā
Maybe Iāll show them some research on studying from home and Iāll get a doctor to explain my condition to them.Ā
Everyone else, any ideas?
@is-there-pastel-in-hell sometimes they donāt want to accept that youāre sick/canāt go to school because of fear that it will get in the way of your future. Try to reassure them with some comprehensive online study-for-GED things, or by saying that itās better to put it on hold for when you are better capable of dealing with it rather than continuing to shake the bottle until it explodes?
If it helps I had to take a break from school (homeschooled for 2 years, then just no school at all for 1 year) due to illness and it was immensely beneficial because it allowed me to get the help I needed before returning to school for my final year. Taking a break from attending school doesnāt mean you wonāt have a future (hell even dropping out entirely doesnāt mean you wonāt have a future, but thatās a slightly harder sell to some parents), it only means you will be better able to reach your future.Ā
thank you so much.
its been a long time since i asked this, and things have changed. ive gotten a diagnoais, and a note from my doctor saying i can miss school/ come in late/ leave early when things are too hard. i have one year of school left, and then im going to study art. ive been taking medication that makes pain manageable, and everything is a lot better. thank you so much for your advice.
