A big thank you to @whitedarkmoonflower for trusting me with capturing your girl's beauty on canvas! This was a fun one to paint due to all the subtle colors in her fur, as well as those fiery copper orange eyes! Grey fur has so much variation in colors from the lighting. It can appear blue or even violet in some areas, and creamy white in others. I also had a blast painting the grass and the out-of-focus background.

It's that time of year again, so here's some advice for cat owners! If you keep finding ants in your cat's feeding dish (indoor or outdoor) and you notice your cats are eating less because of it, there's a way to deter the ants without using chemicals. 1. Get a clean container and set the feeding dish inside. There must be at least 2 inches or more space between them so there's no bridging of the gap. Also, make sure the container walls aren't so high that cats can't comfortably lower their head in (depends on the size of your cat; 10" is too high for most breeds). 2. Fill the container with water. You don't have to fill it all the way, halfway is fine. The point is to make it so the ants can't wade across. It can double as a water drinking station, too! 3. The feeding dish might float if it's not heavy enough or not full enough. Either set something on the bottom to weight it before filling, or fill it with enough food to weigh it down. 4. While it is a tried-and-true method, it's not always 100% foolproof. Ants are crafty, and you might have to experiment with different containers or feeding dishes. Remember to keep the container clear of food and other debris. I imagine this would work for dog owners as well!

I have ~7 year old cat that's a rescue (rescued her when she was ~1 year old) and she was declawed before we got her. I know declawing can cause chronic pain in the paws,l and was wondering if there was any way to offer her comfort? I love this cat more than anything and know she's getting older and I want to make her as comfortable as possible

It really depends on her pain levels. If she's showing reluctance to do certain activities like jumping or kneading, that can indicate pain. First you'll have to make sure isn't anything serious like infection or bone fragments. With those things effectively ruled out, then it could be hard surfaces like the floor (hardwood, tile) or the surface she wants up on. Covering the floor with a soft rug (wool is a good choice) or setting up carpeted steps can help. Booties might also help, at least from what i've read. Hand-knitted ones should be especially comforting for her to wear for long periods.

hope this isn't a weird question, but I've been seeing a lot of videos recently of a cat in a bathtub by an Instagram account called @/abecinema and I wanted to know if the cat is in distress during any of these videos? Since that's what a lot of people in the comments are saying

Hmm...tough one, because there is such a thing as bathing your cat WAY too often, which these videos certainly give off that vibe with how many there are. (I'm also annoyed at how often Upside Down gets used for the music track but that's derailing the topic...) On the other hand, some videos OP talks about the cat having been through surgery, and i know some cats need bathed for medical reasons so...that's a possibility? I can't deny, however, the cat does show signs of distress like meowing in The Tone or scrambling to get out of the water. Not that surprising tbh. There's also a video i particularly find confusing where OP uses...TWEEZERS? NAIL CLIPPERS???? around the cat's nostrils. I'm not 100% certain that is something a veterinarian would ever recommend you do with your cat. That seems scary and dangerous. Final verdict: Yeah this is pretty sus looking. This is coming from a place of "I don't do any of this to MY cats, so why is this person doing this to theirs?" mostly but i think there's cause for concern. The cat seems to be caught in the middle of OP's thirst for clout and keeps being put through bizarre beauty regimens for "cute" videos.

So my cat hates crates. Like she ripped her claw out on a crate one time. We tell the vet this, and he says "bring her in a pillowcase". Is this safe/regular?

I've never heard of bringing a cat into the vet's office in a pillowcase. I don't recommend it personally as anything fabric, thin fabric especially, like towels or t-shirts are very susceptible to ripping and tearing if the cat is particularly fight-y with vet visits. It also can be another claw hazard (cat claws often get caught in the thread loops) Thin fabric is also bad because you're going to get alot of scratches. That said, if lacking other options, using a secure towel or blanket with a thicker fabric can be used. However, carriers are your best bet: This isn't the exact brand i have, and mine doesn't have two compartments, but it IS the type of carrier i use personally. The mesh is not only hard to get the claws through, but it's also hard for them to actually get caught on the material if they do. The inside is padded and comfortable for your cat. It's also incredibly secure and portable! And as demonstrated in the pictures, the divider can be taken out if you have a larger animal. If you can find + afford one of these, i highly recommend getting it. Try to avoid used carriers and any new ones that don't feel sturdy to you. I hope your kitty is doing ok! Poor baby. 🙁

A reminder for those of us with cats at Easter that lilies of ANY kind are BAD for cats. Some species such as Calla, Peace and Peruvian do not cause kidney damage or death like Easter and daylilies, but they can still cause irritation and gastrointestinal issues if ingested...
