đč - grab some drinks to cool off
"Damnitâ you hate it, don't you?" Frank commented as he anticipated Isabelle trying the drink. She'd barely gotten to it and he was already fussing. He wasn't used to being so doubtful but he'd certainly gotten his confidence shaken recently and just wanted to make sure she was enjoying herself. "I knew you shouldn't have let me order for you. It just sounded good and even the bartender recommended it. Maybe you want mine instead?" he offered, already sliding his untouched one over.

Isabelle had barely lifted the glass to her lips when Frank started backtracking, tripping over himself about what heâd ordered. She set it down without even taking a sip, her gaze fixing on him instead. Even if she hadnât known him so well, the anxiety was impossible to miss; it was rolling off him in waves. âI havenât even had a chance to taste it yet and youâre already writing its obituary,â she teased lightly, reaching across the table to place her palms over his. Her thumbs brushed slow, grounding strokes against his skin, softening the words with touch.
âNot that I'd ever turn down trying your drink,â she murmured, amused but still threaded with concern. âBut this is good. Youâre good here, okay? Have I ever given you a reason to think I donât enjoy your company? Or that if the drink was terrible, Iâd hold it against you?â
She let the question linger, then finally lifted the glass for a deliberate sip. Setting it back down, her lips curved into a smile. âItâs actually good,â she admitted, leaning a little closer. âAnd even if it wasnât, Iâd drink the whole thing just to see how much more youâd fuss. Youâre kind of adorable.â A soft laugh escaped her as she squeezed his hand. âIf anything, a few bad drinks here and there just make for a good story in the morning. Weâre going to have a good time, thatâs a guarantee. You donât need to try so hard. What you do need to try is relaxing.â
