“Zay,” Cian said smiling, as he exited the shipyard on his way to his car, he enjoyed just sitting in it and doing his work, away from the chaos of the shipyard. In a sense, it was his office. If he needed to get somewhere quickly, he could start up the engine, if he was needed at the shipyard, he could be there in a minute. It had a cup holder and everything. But the sight of Zay made him linger. It was odd finding him in the desert of all people, someone from his past that put a smile on his face, a connection from before he started to realise what his family dealt in. Killing the lives of others without so much as a little regard to their situation.
“Anything you want to ask me? Or just looking for company?” he asked, smiling, hoping for the later. Sometimes it was regular conversation he longed for, to escape the constant terror of the desert.

The thoughts of not fitting anywhere on the whole planet came to Zay’s mind frequently lately. The City of Iron was just as cold as the metal it was named after; fake, cruel, hardly a place he would call home. But the City of Dust and the desert? Hot, dirty, uncomfortable in every way, and not less dangerous than the former colony. However, somehow, his captain brought a bit of warmth to his soul, making him feel he belongs to the crew, by his side.
As his eyes met the other’s, Zay could not stop the muscles around his mouth curving into a bright smile. “Hey!” he greeted him enthusiastically as he hurried his steps to catch up to the captain. “Honestly? Both” he answered light-heartedly then continued to clarify his motivations “Just wanted to ask if you are leaving the camp… and if you need company.” as he literally invited himself, he leant on Cian, hoping he would not turn down his discrete offer.
