I call myself a Feminist

Sto leggendo un libro sul perché dovremmo dichiararci femministi, su come questo termine è stato bistrattato per tanto tempo, associandolo a l’odio per le donne più che alla lotta per le pari opportunità. Troppo spesso quando dico di credere nel femminismo la gente mi guarda scioccata e lo so che quello che passa nella loro mente sono donne che bruciano i reggiseni, inveiscono contro gli uomini e che urlano che ogni forma di sesso è stupro.  Ma non è questo che vuol dire essere femminista.  E visto che ogni volta che cerco di spiegarlo, la risposta che mi danno è “Questo è quello che dici tu!”, ecco un’altro paio di donne che dicono quello che dico io, e lo dicono da sempre, a tutti.  Non mi vergogno di considerami femminista.

Isabel non era mai stata un'esperta di musica. Certo le piaceva come piaceva a tutti, e aveva i suoi generi e suoi artisti preferiti, ma ben lungi da considerarla una vera e propria passione, spesso ascoltava la musica che le capitava e a volte, se era abbastanza fortunata, c'era una canzone che sembrava parlasse di lei.
