What was Laurel thinking to achieve by making Michaela chat up Charles at a bar???

God and it’s become the classic HTGAWM tactic: blowing up the story line to provide drama and pain and angst, not pursue the new avenues that become available to further the plot along with whole new conflicts, then leaving behind the ones the show already has for even more drama that forces the story to actually fuck itself over trying to justify its own sidelining of the plot they set on in the first place.
