I am pissed. 1899's story deserved to be told. It deserved an ending. It deserved to resolve all of its lose threads. In an ocean of shows that hesitantly ask for the evantuality of a second season 1899 went all out and told a story that demanded one. And it delivered on every metric you could possibly want and it still got cancelled. Meanwhile we're getting Emily in Paris season 40 soon, fuck Netflix I hate this

Just heard the news that Netflix canceled 1899. Also apparently they don't have all the rights to Wednesday and it might be moving to Prime video. Both shows heavily promoted. I'm still not over Warrior nun's cancelation, which was praised everywhere. Like, why anyone would take the time to watch a show on Netflix anymore? If it isn't a massive hit like squid game of stranger things THEY WILL cancel it. It's not a matter of "if" anymore. They were on the verge of canceling Sandman because it was too expensive. SANDMAN. I cancelled my subscription because I don't think their content is worth my hard-earned money anymore. Why would I continue my subscription just to receive the same news every other week that the show I was enjoying just got axed? I'm no longer a clown

in retrospect, daniel’s entire storyline is incredibly hilarious because while all the other passengers are stuck in a loop reliving their worst memories, daniel is more or less a walking cheat code and he’s somehow having the worst time out of all of them. he hasn’t slept in 8 days and he’s wet all the time. he has a wife who doesn’t remember him and a dead son. he has to watch his wife fall in love with a handsome brooding sea captain over and over again. his only friends are a virtual version of his son who clearly prefers his mother over him and his son’s pet bug. he gets the absolute shit beat out of him by a background character. he’s done this simulation countless times before and somehow his wife is still always two steps ahead of him. the man’s really out there just barely passing an open-book exam. poor little meow meow indeed.

Potential Virus Risk on AO3 Comments

Hey everyone. So, I wanted to make a post about something I've seen in AO3 comments recently and I wanted to let y'all know so you can be careful.

Today, on two separate fics of mine, I got comments from guests with different names that had what looks like a key smash followed by a weird link. They looked like this:

Now, it is possible that these are legit comments and these links lead to nothing bad. But, in my experience, this looks like a classic phishing scam or a link to a virus. Honestly, I never open links I see online unless I know for sure I can trust the source. And even then I'm a bit hesitant, since I know that accounts can be hacked. I actually deleted the first email and comment immediately and didn't really think about it again. However, after getting another comment that was almost identical but from a guest with a different name, it makes me think that this might be something bad.

So, if you see these kinds of comments, unless you know exactly who sent it, I'd recommend just deleting them and not clicking on the links. Honestly, even if you know who sent it, I'd still be careful just in case they got hacked. If someone wanted to send you a legit link, they would probably do it with some kind of comment beforehand saying what the link actually leads to. This seems to me like they're trying to prey off curiosity and it can lead to some nasty stuff. Since I know some AO3 writers and readers follow me, I thought I'd post about it here. Similarly, if you see a comment like this on someone's fic, maybe don't click on it either. Again, I can't guarantee this is anything bad, since I definitely did not click on the links, but it's better to be safe than sorry. If y'all could reblog this to spread the word, I'd appreciate it.

Anyway, be careful out there guys! I got burned a few too many times as a kid, so I'm extra careful with links and things now, ha.

EDIT: Apparently, these links are indeed malicious. I checked them in an online link checker, and it detected one malicious source from the link in the second message, but 12 malicious sources in the link from the first message. So, it's pretty clearly a virus or phishing scam. Please be aware!

LOOK UP YOUR LOCAL THEATER

if you're interested in things like opera, orchestra, theatre, google "theatres in (your city)" and go from there. you absolutely don't have to go to the fanciest place where celebrities perform Shakespeare in real 1500s outfits, I promise you there's affordable options to watch art live. go to museums, go to art performances, go to the fucking ballet! experience things! couple weeks ago I literally got two tickets to a modernist orchestra concert by less than what I would spend on a single McDonald's menu, and less than half a single movie ticket

I promise you that you will find the fine arts way more relatable and understandable than you were led to believe they are, and that you don't need to be wearing fancy outfits, and the staffers and cast members are always more welcoming than you think, there's no secret hidden social rules, you are just supposed to get there early and turn off your phone and be respectful and quiet during the performances, just like going to the movies

and these places need our patronage to stay affordable, to be able to spread culture further, to be able to teach their craft and pass it forward to new generations of artists and staffers and technicians. you don't have to watch a play a week or go to the orchestra monthly, but consider pirating the latest blockbuster movie that you would maybe want to see and going to the theatre instead
