A kinda related note i hope you don’t mind me adding on: one of the most life-changing bits of story advice i ever received was actually in a class on “Revenge and Vengeance in the Ancient World,” if you can believe it. The professor was talking about how everyone in ancient Greece knew all the Greek myths back to front and told them over and over again - and someone asked why they would keep retelling the same stories if they already knew they ended.

She explained that basically it wasn’t the ending that was the most suspenseful or exciting part, but how you got there. This is why The Iliad spoils its own ending in the opening lines. This is why we have so many different retellings of Shakespeare, of Arthurian legends, of fairy tales. 

There are no truly original stories or truly unpredictable endings. So, IMO, it’s better to focus on how you as a writer/filmmaker/artist/whatever can bring something new to the body of the story rather than trying to shock and mislead your audience.

The opening lines of Romeo and Juliet flat out say “they die”, but the anticipation and suspense comes from all the ways they might not. Likewise, in Hadestown, Hermes talks about telling the story of Orpheus and Eurydice again because “maybe it’ll turn out this time”. The journey is as important as the destination.

The thing that excites me about reading a story isn’t whether or not they’ll do the thing (because of course we know they’re going to) but how they do the thing. A story that depends entirely on plot twists exists only for shock value and so has no rewatch value. If you put all of your writing power into shocking your audience, you’ll only end up neglecting the more important facets of writing (character, plot that isn’t centered around the twist, etc.). So on rewatch, with the twist already known, your audience will notice how two-dimensional and flimsy the rest of your writing really is; whereas in a well-written story, upon rewatch they will be noticing little tidbits and nuances they haven’t noticed upon first viewing, but enrich the story and character already established regardless

Felizmente nunca me aconteceu e nunca fiz com ninguém, mas sei que tem. A ideia era meio que combater isso criando um clima de amistosidade, mas pelo visto a galera tem mais o que falar de ruim do que de bom da ideia KKKKKKKKK.

a ideia é de bom coração mas as pessoas não sabem usar. vai virar panelinha, falação de mal dos outros que não estarão presentes além de seletividade. tive só experiências horríveis com grupos assim, e acho melhor você não optar por fazer.

Entendo, na verdade essa era uma das minhas ressalvas na hora de fazer, porque eu sei que algumas pessoas não sabem usar e no fim eu ia acabar ficando só THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS kkkkkkkk a última coisa que eu quero também é criar (mais) dor de cabeça pra mim. É complicado porque todo mundo aqui já é grandinhe e deveria ter consciência e agir como adultes. Enfim, achei que seria uma boa ideia pra criar unidade, mas se vocês não acharem legal e que vai só prejudicar, longe de mim colaborar com isso.

ROI, TAG NÉ? HOJE A PESQUISA DE INTERESSE VAI SER UM POUCO DIFERENTE...

oi amades, me chamo izzy e vc pode (ou não) me conhecer como a moderadora do @gloryandgorehq. eu to vindo aqui incomodar vocês porque ainda hoje eu recebi uma ask lá na central que eu postei aqui na tag de um anônimo me pedindo dicas de como manter um rpg depois de meses dele rodando. eu fiquei um tempo pensando nisso e até debati o assunto com as minhas players, mas depois que eu fui tomar banho (aka o local onde nascem as melhores ideias) e me veio uma ideia.

diante do clima de competição e gladiação que existe nessa tag, POR QUE NÃO PODEMOS NOS AJUDAR MAIS? antigamente, na golden era da tag, existia muito mais clima de cooperação entre as pessoas, existiam afiliados (RIP) e eu sinto MUITO a falta disso. acho que muito é do fato que hoje em dia poucos rps vão para frente e sempre tem um ou outro que gosta de lançar a mesma temática, então as pessoas sentem que precisam competir para manter players. eu acho isso triste demais KKKKKKKKKKKKK. então eu vim propor algo que achei bacana mas acho que vai precisar do aval e aderência de vcs:

O QUE ACHAM DE UMA PLATAFORMA  NA QUAL A GENTE POSSA ENTRAR E TROCAR IDEIAS E EXPERIÊNCIAS? pensei em ser um lugar como o discord, o telegram, ou mesmo aqui no tumblr para moderadores de rps novos e antigos da tag entrarem, contarem dramas, desabafarem (pq nao é fácil nao kkkkkkkkk) trocarem dicas e se apoiarem. quem sabe a gente não resgata o antigo sistema de afiliação também? acho que a gente pode ganhar muito se acabar se unindo. eu sei que tem gente que faz as coisas na maldade hoje em dia, que entra pra criar intriga, mas eu ainda acredito que existam pessoas que querem de fato melhorar as condições de jogo e acredito na força que as pessoas que querem o bem têm. eu deixaria tudo aberto, poder ao povoh, todo mundo pode editar e tal, compartilhar o que quiser... o que vocês acham? mandem sinal de fumaça, sei lá, se tiver bastante gente interessada eu penso em dar uma organizada nessa ideia. aceito sugestões também <3 pensem com carinho.
