UP is not about getting high grades. It’s about never giving up

Dahil sa cut-off nito? Dahil sa large class policy? Dahil malayo ‘to?
Gahd. And duh, UP campus pa rin naman yun.

UPLB doesn’t deserve the association of the word “LANG”. Because UPLB is my second home. Pag narinig kita nagganyan kalbuhin kita. - @benjocadag
Hello Batch 2018!
I am so sorry to all of those that messaged me and inquired about UP Baguio after my rant post. I’ll do my best to respond to you all and I am really excited to see you guys next school year!
I’ll be posting something about the things that you need to get by at UP Baguio, especially if you come from a different region or even a different part of the world.
Have a meaningful day everyone. :)
Why UP? Why UP Baguio? Facing criticisms ; “UP Baguio ka lang?”
“Sa kadami daming universities diyan, bakit UP?” "It’s UP eh”
I believe it’s not just me who thinks that being regarded by people as an intellectual person is something to be proud of. And in our country, once you say UP, people would immediately think that it’s a school for smart and logical kids.
To me, being a part of those “kids” felt so awesome and I just cant help but smile whenever my titas and my mom’s friends congratulate me and tell me praises. Then after that, theyre going to ask “Which campus?” “Baguio po. UP Baguio po.“ And here comes the most annoying phrases any passer of UPB would hear,
“Ay, UP BAGUIO ka lang?” “Akala ko naman UP Diliman ka, lahat naman nakakapasa diyan eh“ “Bakit di ka nag Diliman? Di ka ba nakapasa dun?“
Okay, I’ll be honest, at first I was very frustrated about the fact that people use the term “lang” when they get to know that we (me and the other students that experienced the same thing) kids are studying at UP Baguio. I badly wanted to tell them off and ask them why they have to say such things with not even knowing how difficult it is to get in and more difficult it is to stay in such a prestigious school.
But back in High School, my favorite teacher told us that students like us, even if were being criticized, insulted or praised for being in a school like such (Philippine Science High School / University of the Philippines), we’re not supposed to get too emotional about it and start bragging or getting mad about every little comment, he added
“Youre in here to do your duty as a student, at iyon ay mag-aral ng mabuti, hindi magyabang“
That’s when I realized that I had to let it go, because he’s right. Ano nga ba ang pakealam namin sa mga taong hindi naman alam ang pakiramdam ng pagiging estudyante, what’s important here is that we do our job to study well and graduate with flying colors, at kahit hindi flying colors basta masurvive and buhay sa UP, that’s something to be proud of na talaga. :) -UPB kid blues-

College will make you insane
The people you meet and the memories you make will mold you into a new you and maybe a better you.
I entered college when I was 16 years old old and now that Im almost 20, I keep reminding myself that Im still nobody and that I have to work hard to gain something amazing and fulfilling.
The people I met and the friends I made really helped me get through college life. And seriously, having friends, real ones, will really make your college years fun and less stressful.
Acads, organizations, events, deadlines, parties, laziness, toxic people and sleepless nights will break you if you dont keep yourself in check. As in, bibigay katawan at pag-iisip kung wala kang disiplina. Wag na wag mong papabayaan sarili mo. Surround yourself with positive and happy people to survive.
