sometimes they go right over maekar’s head.
baelor is usually the one who catches them and shoots aerys a look.
aerys just shrugs like he did not say something insanely rude or mean.
most of the time, though, maekar feels it.
what hurts maekar the most is how casual aerys is about it.
maekar cannot tell if aerys is irritated that he is not as well-read, or if his brother is just that detached and buried in tomes and his own head that he does not realize how rude he sounds.
regardless, young maekar still wants the approval of his two eldest brothers.
