A Convert, and Her Journey to Islam

I've just begun my conversion process to Islam. Right now I'm simply studying the faith, as I felt a calling to it. I would love to talk to other converts here, and learn!

Today I said the Shahadah before Allah!

Ya Allah, replace my sadness with hope.

Ya Allah, replace my anxiety with reassurance.

Ya Allah, replace my depression with happiness.

Ya Allah, replace my desires with the desire to please You.

Ya Allah, replace my weakness with strength.

Ya Allah, replace my reliance on this dunya with tawwakul.

Ya Allah, replace this darkness inside of me with the light of Islam.

I’m really stressed right now about paying for college classes that seem pricey, and feeling very bad emotionally. Is there a way to pray to Allah for guidance, help and support?

This would be one good thing to do on Ramadan, if you cannot fast. We must give during the Holy month of Ramadan!

Today I met with the Imam at my local Mosque! :)

The Imam spoke to me about Islam, since I’m interested in converting to Islam, and I was given two books to study; Mohammed: A Prophet For Our Time, and of course, the Quran.

I would love some more reading suggestions from Muslims and converts to Islam for when I’ve finished reading the first book mentioned. I want to learn all I can about the faith. I want to know what I’m doing before officially converting/reciting the lines that will make me a Muslim.
