ICP4 Development Workshop 2
It was great fun on Saturday at the second of our seven development workshops for a possible fourth Isleworth community play. This time we took Christmas as out warm-up theme and groups created essence machines of the best Christmas ever. We then had a Christmas juke box of some of the Christmas number one hits of the 1960s. These included no less than four Beatles tracks and a funny rendition of Lily the Pink! One group made a Christmas advert to the backing track of Moon River. It made me cry. Next came an exploration of what it must have been like to have been a young person from the area getting onto Eel Pie island and dancing the night away to the latest bands, including the Rolling Stones, in Arthur Chisnall's dilapidated hotel with a dangerous sprung floor. Finally, we brought the Fab Four back to Isleworth as one group created a physical storyboard of the plot of A Hard Day's Night, which was partially filmed in Thornbury Fields, Isleworth. And the other group imagined what the world would have been like without The Beatles if Paul and John had been run over on the St Margaret's Road as really nearly happened! There was a lot of laughter and some brilliant creative ideas generated that may well end up in the new play.
