Exploring Dubai

Ever since I came here my eyes are wide open, big bold moving left right up down just like a new born baby. It's a beautiful city, not much natural beauty but man made beauty. Long towers adorn the city and tourist attractions keep the tourists busy. What I liked is the discipline which people follow while crossing roads, boarding metros, throwing garbage in bins only, etc. Well, the hard fines make sure people follow the rules. If you break them then get ready to shed big bucks but if you follow them then your life and others is easy.

There's a lot to see in Dubai they say. I am done with Dubai Marina, Dubai Mall, Dubai Internet City and Burj Khalifa (haven't been on top yet) as of now. Look forward to explore other places soon.

Facebook Timeline - Introduction

Facebook Timeline - A new way to tell your story with your profile. Facebook has official announced Timeline – a new kind of profile, today, allowing user to sign up for this soon to be launched feature.

Facebook believs that its users share great stories and so it should allow to them to preserve those great stories so that they can look back anytime and cherish those moments and share it friends. Sounds like a scrapbook, uh?

You know your story the best so Timeline allows you to choose what features in your profile. You create your timeline- fill it with that crazy status update of yours, or that funny photo, etc. just go back in time and add them.

The new Timeline concept seems cool. We have also seen a similar concept in apps like the Intel® The Museum of Me, an application that displays information from your Facebook account as viewable "exhibits" in a virtual museum of your very own.

I always say and belived that what keeps Facebook going is its innate ability to innovate and give users more reasons to be with it, and all this with a touch of simplicity.

The new features like Subscribe button, Improved friend lists, news feed changes are nothing but strategic steps towards making user experience more personalized and poking them to share more with friends around.

This will certainly benefit Facebook (business wise) because it will know you inside out and no surprises to me if this somehow helps making Facebook ads become more personalized and precisely targted. But that's a different story to talk about.

Facebook Announces New Feature - Subscribe Button

Facebook has annouced the new Subscribe Button which helps you stay connected to people who you know but are not friends with.

It does happen that often you want to stay connected with individuals, public figures, celebs, journalists and stay up to date. Not all of them have a Page, and prefer communicating via their personal profiles. So, how do you connect with them? Facebook answered this with the new "susbcribe button" which you can see on the top right side.

Here's some more information by Facebook:

Only people who allow subscribers will have a Subscribe button on their profile. If you don't see the button, you can't subscribe.

After you allow subscribers, a Subscribe button will show up on your profile. Your public updates will appear in people's News Feeds once they click this button.

Subscribers can see only the things you share publicly. They can also choose how many and what types of these public updates they get.

As more and more people enable this button, more public data will be avaulable on Facebook, something which was missing all this time.

Google Ads inside Facebook

Two of my friends saw a Google Ad on thier home page inside Facebook (See Image Below)

Not sure if their accounts are hacked or there's some application which they ran but the way the App appeared it looked like Facebook has allowed it.

Will research more on this and share across my thoughts soon.
